They replaced the 12 Hours of Sebring with 6 Hours of Austin! Unbelievable! (I thought they were crazy when they took out Petit Le Mans!)

Re: 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship
It all has to do with the 2014 merger, give the race one last swan song with the main series that has the lease to the race

Ya mis-read my statement the race isn't going anywhere however it'll be the alms swan song for the event just like the 24 hours of daytona will be grand-am's swan song for the event before the unification so give the series their last phase of glory for the races and be ready for upwards of 70+ cars entered for the 24 hours and 12 hours in 2014

Yes, they did when Toyota didn't show at spaStonewall458 wrote:Has Audi locked up the P1 Manufacturer's championship then?
As for the sebring / Dayton'r convo, I was under the impression that LMPs were too low to run at the rolex 24. Furthermore, The ACO and Scott E from ALMS agreed that Sebring's confusion and epic (in the length of time sense of the word) podium ceremony and overall confusion would not be repeated in the future. To Ensure this, They stated that although they may share a race weekend, they will no longer take the track at the same time.
More likely, the WEC will race separately on weekends where the ALMS/GrandAm will effectively ride the coattails and use the infrastructure the the WEC will bring (and the crowd as well.)
To me the ALMS/Grandam merger is going to spell the end of cutting edge sportscar racing in the US. It is an agreement where Don Panoz gets to unload the ALMS while ensuring that at least most of "his" alms people wont be out of a job, and he gets to cash in on the 12 year investment that is the ALMS. For nascar/grandam the aim was to further their almost complete monopoly of world-class (by that I mean grade 1-2 homaligated tracks on north america while also getting the rights to hold PLM and Sebring as well as a potential third marquis race at Road America should they choose to build it. Unfortunately, I fear we will lose the world class technology and motor racing that the ALMS (yes even now with only 2-3 lmp 1s on the grid) brings to the table. Instead we will end up with a bunch of artificially tightened racing with silloette cars and 3rd rate drivers.... Just my 2 cents

Re: 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship
How so?
Audi need to get their act together for 2013, that's for sure. It's almost like they've become complacent and have been caught out by having competition.
I'm just still gutted that Peugeot had to drop out..
