Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
i'm on a 41.6 in the Golf and that is the absolute maximum, i can't change the build on the car as it only just fits in with the power/weight rules so i'm stuck with what i've got!

Or to put it another way: Real Honda vs Fake Honda! lol
I'm hoping it's gonna be a close race tonight. Judging by the laptimes, it's gonna be epic. But I still hope the battle is gonna be between real honda and fake honda.

Sorry for my no-show, was getting ready to come on at 7.30 when I got a call from my mum saying my dad was in agony and had to go to hospital, so I had to go pick him up and take him to A'n'E.

Fantastic racing all round, especially with Duncan in all three races, and ''Desperate Dan Austin'' in race 3
The amount of times me and Duncan crossed over each other in that first curve is uncountable. Very clean racing too from everybody, although there were some lapses at times..

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
This is probably controversial..
I hate disagreeing but I found a couple incidents not so clean.. People stuffed into the wall after giving plenty of room in race 2 and we had people re-joining the track and causing collisions which effectively ended race 1 for me.
I hold my hands up and say I made an error and shunted my team mate. But we all make errors and I accept errors, out braking, locking up, taking your brain out for a corner. I’ve been a giver and taker of such things, a sorry and we continue racing, it is a game after all..
I just don’t understand defending your line into the apex and someone just shunting you off to get past. If you are quicker you’ll get past, but half the art of racing is making your car wide and defending against people behind. But if we can’t defend our lines its not going to be good racing. Don’t have to be the quickest hot lapper, but you can be a better racer and have the better craft.
If the above continues I think we need the safety car to at least give people a fighting chance to have a decent nights racing

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
From my own stand-point, I expect the TCC to have a level of physicality about it. I expect to see people using their cars as obstacles, late lunges (that work!), leaning on each other, love taps, etc. The type of thing you see in the WTCC and BTCC, because that's the atmosphere we are attempting to recreate to a degree.
What I don't want to see is people punting others off. Alan Gow stated years ago that if you ruin someone else's race with a stupid move, TOCA would ruin yours and exlcude you. I see no reason why we can't have that mentality here at TORA.
I understand that emotions are high during a race. Yes, we are only sitting on a chair in front of a screen with a controller, not in a £100k racing car bashing panels with another £100k racing car, but I personally still get a bit of adrenaline pumping and nerves squirming when I am doing well in one of these races, so to be punted off or put out by stupid moves on someone else's part is understandably aggrevating. But you need to keep your cool and keep on going, because next time it could be you being over-ambitious and punting someone by mistake and ruining their race.
We've always been about fun rather than competition. But at the same time we need to be fair. So if anyone has any issues, the usual procedure applies. PM me or Duncan with the details of the incident, and we will look at it. I've already looked at a few from last night, and have to say that I wouldn't class them more than racing incidents. But I will also review our Safety Car regs for the next TCC meeting at Silverstone, as I take your point GTR Evo. We had some very good pack racing last night, and the cars were very, very close in performance. Being punted on lap three and having to spend the next 17 laps running round half a lap back isn't enjoyable, so we will review what our options are in this regard to keep things close.

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
Cheers scot.. 100% agree. I've always felt this is the TORA philosophy. and I think I did what you mentioned in the third paragraph (hmmm, what’s the optimum number of apologies to send your team mate when you take him out?)
Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
one should be the max and thats its... its racing at the end of the day.. unless your team thinks its ok to brake test you and the stewards to nothing about it....

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
From the perspective I had, in amongst Ian, Duncan, Nick and Dan, I was very impressed with the quality of race craft. I've been racing for a few years now and have learned a lit about defensive driving, which was he only thing that kept me ahead of Dan in race 3.

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
Last nights races were just a reminder to me why i had decided to reduce the amount of racing i did on TORA.After watching the replays again at some points i find it very hard to even call it racing.
Very very disappointed

Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
Shane is without broadband just now, so what I said originally still stands, PM Duncan or myself outlining incidents you want us to look at.
I can understand why you feel that way Gary, you had two races ruined through contact, and that's annoying. In fairness though, you can get that kinda racing anywhere, be it the real BTCC, a club race at Knockhill, a karting race at Cambuslang, the public hoppers, the TORA Trofeo Abarth (yes Chaddy, it's not forgotten) or even over in AJzero's series. Not that I know anything about that.
But if you want it reviewed then PM us.
Nevertheless the general consensus was that last night was enjoyable for the majority, the cars are very balanced (so far) and the TCC is back. Shame it's only a five round series - think we can petition Turn 10 to delay Forza 4 so we can sneak in a few more rounds?

hahah scot i say tcc same kind of rules on forza 4
Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
I think we have a very good formula for creating series these days so hopefully we should be able to get the TCC back up and running on FM4 sooner rather than later.
Re: TCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Maple Valley Short - 16/08/11
oh dont worry ck i aint forgotten that either
If someone trys a matt neal on me there getting put in the wall. simple.
