Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Rare comment on F1 thread from Adrian, for obvious reasons:
The only thing that will make me smile about F1 this year, is when any sky reporter and camera crew goes near the crowd at Silverstone, to be welcomed by a barrage of "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
This used to happen quite regularly in the PDC Darts events when a sky presenter made his way onto the stage to interview the winner of said darts competition...
...probably wont, F1 fans are fickle[ducks]...

Lolz. Freakin Vettel.
Good race from Vettel, hope to see Alonso win at least one more race this year, and I think he will.

This guys doesn't hold back. I love his part about young drivers and their passing ability, really true and should be something to take note of. His opinions about the Pirelli rubber is actually quite good as well.
Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I really think thats wrong Chucky. Thats clearly dangerous driving. If Hamilton or Alonso started sliding and span off, it could have hurt a few marshalls and spectators. Also, think of what the penalty would be like if Hamilton done the exact same move.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Technically, by the rules, Hamilton was the one in the wrong, and Rosberg is fine.
However, with some discretion for common sense, Rosberg should have a penalty.

Even Johnny Herbet said about a REGULATION, saying you can't crowd someone off the track...

Au contrere mon frere... he moved to the right edge of the track, then to the left for corner entry's sake. That could be construed as two moves, and has been before. But since Schumi is in a Mercedes, maybe they have assumed the "can do no wrong" status traditionally reserved for the Red team.
Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I'd like to give props to Renault, err "Lotus" for their dual podium performance. With MB's win in China, and now Lotus' performance in Bahrain, there seems to be five competitive teams, as opposed to the three that have been the dominant forces the past two seasons.
Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Seems it was Chelsea FC sponsorship that Sauber was hinting at on their engine covers in the last two races.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Hmm.. Petrov complaining about Mugello being ''unsafe'', wheras Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo love the place. And too right. The whole FIA grading system is nonsense, F1 is suffering from poor tilke-dromes with their jaggy corners and fancy facilities, we need proper circuits back on the F1 calendar.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Very true, most of the circuits were designed on paper and put down in a field rather than being molded into the surrounding area, that's why Road Atlanta and Infineon are my favorite tracks in forza.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Eh. It's hard to say which I prefer. I think my favorite tracks were once public roads. I really do enjoy Spa, Bathurst, and Laguna Seca more than I do most tracks.
However, I think Herman Tilke is single-handedly killing motor racing circuits worldwide. I still can't believe that Circuit of the Americas (Austin, TX) is a Tilke track. *I* could draw up a better circuit than him.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Paul Ricard circuit should be hosting the French Grand Prix, which I do like. Unfortunately, it's part of a deal that the race alternates between itself & Spa each year. What!?! Surely, there's worse tracks to drop! May I remind them of Valencia?!?

It's all about the cashmoney though.
Spa has always had financial difficulties.

Road/street circuits will always be the best.
Really can't wait until the race in New Jersey next year, it's about a 7 hour drive.

i agree that the tracks are horrid, but there's nothing wrong with having modern design and facilities for the teams at the track.
working at barber, it's nice having things like wifi and gas stations and catering at the track. not to mention RV hook ups and team facilities.

By fancy facilities I mean having ridiculous hotels arching over tracks, ridiculously large bridges, massive stands that are far away from the track..

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Kind of, but rules are rules regarding the amount of fuel all cars must give as a sample. McLaren have done this in the past.
Pretty awesome for a Williams to be on Pole position though

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
I wouldn't say one such slip-up as this would make him want to leave the team, that would be an extreme reaction to have.
I think the penalty is fair. Rules are rules, and the teams do this at every event, it's not like it's some obscure section of the rulebook that only pops up in a real situation every few years.
