2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
There's three highlights I want you all to see if you haven't seen them yet: Vettel's acceptance speech for 'International Motorsport Driver of the Year' which includes a hilarious impression of Kimi Raikkonen, Button's acceptance speech for 'British Driver of the Year' who rips into host Steve Rider, and finally banter between Rider and Martin Brundle (supposedly new to Sky) vs Ted Kravitz and Jake Humphrey (BBC).
I'd love to post links but I'm a new poster on here and I can't post external links within a week of joining.
Oh and also the Dan Wheldon posthumous award. Emotional.
Enjoy!

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
Was going to watch this live the other night but kinda well.... fell asleep! lol
I heard it was really very good though, must check out those vids.
I take it that's you making off with a F1 tyre in your pic? How did you not get set upon by team 'heavies'?

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
Matt it does look like I've done a runner doesn't it! At Silverstone this year by the McLaren/Vodafone they had a P Zero F1 spec tyre, and it was so light! Must of been about 7kg. Great pic though!
Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
Awesome! More used to sports car tyres myself which are tonnes bigger. Always had the impression F1 tyres would still have some decent weight to them. Guess they would have to be pretty light though
Lucky so n so all the same!

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
Well I could probably top that tenfold:
Having seen Hamilton win in 2008 at Silverstone where we got absolutely soaked, we quickly pre-ordered our tickets for next year. At the time, Silverstone were running a draw for 50 people and their guests who pre-ordered their tickets for next year's GP.
We were one of them. The prize? To be formally invited to the BRDC to watch the final race of the season with greats such as John Watson & Damon Hill (there were some others).
I was in awe the entire evening, and even done a live interview with talkSPORT. And then on that final turn he won it, the whole place went ballistic.
Enough?

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
Well, I'm pretty jealous. My closest meeting with drivers was with Patrick who owns Rogue Motorsport and his drivers. Not that that's a bad thing or anything, but to be in the BRDC building must have been amazing.
Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
I've been lucky enough to be in the BRDC building but only for an AMOC meeting.
Love the view from the top balcony and the model car display cases are a collectors dream!!!
Spent most of the time checking those out rather than the races lol.
Think my best so far was being invited to watch the end of Britcar 24 with Paragon Porsche a few years back from the pit wall. Saw the end of the race and was right under the podium when the champagne gor sprayed. Awesome experience and backed the team ever since. Mark Sumpter (the owner) has always made time for us

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
The BRDC building was looking pretty empty from where Me, Shane and Tim were sitting as we took photos and timed the Rogue Forza Toyota (and the VW Golf) on the saturday night of the Britcar 24. But If its members only then fair enough.

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
I've just watched the Ryder-Brundle discussion, I was in mid-sandwich-mouthfull when I heard ryder say "...when I told the BBC to P[whoah]s off..."
I am fine now...had to clean up a bit though, nearly had sandwich all over the laptop!

Re: 2011 AUTOSPORT Awards
LOVING the JB speech. That was brilliant.
Yeah Seb, the Finns are.....different. Those monkey suit wearing, vodka swilling, magnum eating, sideways driving madmen
"What was the meat tonight? All I know is Jeremy Clarkson shot it so it could be anything"
