Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
It was the first time for me to do qualifying and i had fun and learned a lot, but i feel so bad for BG Beanz because I have made one of his laps dirty by comming into his draft on the part after Mulsanne corner do to my mistake.
Again I am really sorry for this.....
The qualifying should be looked at because this format is not fair for all players as in the "Qualifying 1 US Sun" there where less cars so they had a better opportunity to set clean laps, also they had less LMP cars on the road thus the GT's had less problems.
If Collisions are off in qualifying then we all have the same opportunity to set the best lap we can, now there is some luck involved. Or there should be only a GT Qualifying lobby and a LMP Qualifying lobby so that the pack spreads out evenly around the track and there is no or less overtaking of slower cars.
The last part of the session I parked at the end of the pits to give other people more room for some clean laps.
Can't wait for the Race to start......
BTW: In the "Qualifying 3 Weds" results my car shows as a Acura ARX-02a but i drive a Acura ARX-01b.

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
Daniel wasn't able to qualify last night (wed) - despite having an open NAT and being able to join any other room, couldn't get into the TORA qualifying session, so must've been someone in there with a moderate/strict NAT.
You may think or know your NAT settings to be open, BUT, if you haven't checked since the Dashboard Update its worth looking as this update changed some peoples NAT settings.
So, as a result PLEASE can all the below do the following, as it may be you that can't join Race day!!:
Drake Hellspawn
ATR DAN
CMGraphix
Racert46
AAR ABEnstein
cornwinMB
ALL MAX RPM
F4H Diablo
F4H Koenigsegg
BG Beanz
AngelKristensen
mandown46
GRT 458Italia
BG Hainesy
power on xbox and go online and sign in
Press xbox guide button
got to settings / system settings / click on your connection
Then click "Test Xbox Live Connection"
If your NAT is moderate or strict this will tell you. Otherwise everything will have a tick ;O)

I thought it would've been Daniel with the closed NAT, as everyone got into the lobby without issue, even mutliples at the same time. Last person to join, I believe was F4H Koenigsegg?
and to add to that, its very true that if yuor NAT is closed and cant get in due to it, we'll go without you. Cant stress this enough.

I was in and out of lobbies all day with ALL MAX RPM, AAR ABEnstein, Drake Hellspawn, and have raced with Diablo several times before with no issue. But if it will make you all sleep easier at night I will go through the steps tomorrow to make sure everything is open.

Sorry if this comes across as cocky, but i know what i'm talking about when it comes to this department, but if Daniel's NAT was open, he would be able to connect to anyone, even if their NAT was set to strict/closed.
As for the dashboard update, there is no way that would affect how the Xbox connects NAT wise, NAT translation is all done through your router.
What people need to do (and i hope an admin could make this an announcement) is to use Port Triggering, not Port Forwarding or Port Range Forward.
These are ports you need to trigger, which will ensure all NAT's will be open, no matter how many Xboxs you have on your network, or what IP address is assigned to it (will vary slightly for each router model)
Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)

Sorry to disagree but this is not correct. A dashboard connection check confirmed the NAT is open (and just to double check, games that report network type such as Gears 3 also confirm this). So despite having an open NAT, still could not connect to the lobby.
I encountered the same problem on Tuesday in the TCC A-lobby. All 13 drivers joined the lobby for the first race, no problems. Then for the second race, one driver, Cpt Nemo71 couldn't join the race, even though it was the same host, same people, same connections and no one's NAT's had changed between races.

Wether or not the Xbox says it's OPEN or not doesn't make a difference, if the ports are setup correctly it will be OPEN.
The dashboard update itself will not actually adjust anything or make a difference to it, what it displays could actually be wrong, but an update won't OPEN or CLOSE ports...
Also just to re-itterate, Forza doesn't have a host, connection-wise anyway

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
I think you're missing the point Beanz, no one's talking about the dashboard update changing it from Open to Closed etc - the issue here was a driver with an Open connection being unable to connect and thus unable to qualify.
Of course it makes a difference, that's why there IS a connection check facility. If the ports are setup correctly, it will come back with no error, indicating an open NAT (as was the case). If it comes back with a connection error, then the ports are incorrect and your NAT is moderate or strict (which was NOT the case).
So to say that someone can 'always connect' if their NAT is open is incorrect - as these two examples (Tuesday with Cpt Nemo and last night with Daniel) show.
Selecting a different host, or getting people into the lobby in a different order sometimes fixes the conflict - and although Forza uses P2P connections, the lobby is still managed by a 'host' connection (i.e the person who sets up the lobby) - which is why if a lobby host lags out during a race you get a momentary pause or stutter as it migrates to another host.

I was only replying to what you wrote, that the update could actually change your NAT
I agree with you on changing the order of people joining, that can sometimes help. I don't think i was clear with what i meant, i'm crap at explaining stuff, but what i'm trying to say is that if everyone's NAT is OPEN, and people still cannot join, it's not a NAT issue.

I agree it's not a NAT issue cos that was Open, so it's a conflict which seems to randomly happen on Forza. I used to get it on Forza 2 with one of my team mates CQR VtecTorque, we were both Open but could never join each others lobbies - but we were OK with everyone else!

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
I have all port triggering and Open NAT and couldn't connect to the Monday Le Mans quali lobby four times in a row. After a couple of people drop I got in no problems.
The dash update wont and cant effect a router BUT..before update CQR Senna had an OPEN NAT, After update it was moderate......figure that out!! Maybe it just showed what it was really set to. Dunno.

or has any 1 had a autorouter update from their provider?
Vrgin Media send updates to the router automatically BT do, Sky do and others do best check your router forum and ask them

More magicians in CQR than in Middle-earth.
There is obviously some other issue with Forza connections that we don't know about. It (in this case with Daniel) is not a NAT issue as his is open therefore it wouldn't matter if someone in the lobby has their NAT closed, he would still be able to join. Its happened to me as well a couple of times and I always ensure that my NAT is open.

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
Agreed Matt, it does seem like people have been having more problems since the update, makes no sense though does it! Just one of life's random things I guess. Very frustrating though - I mean we had 11 CQR guys jumping in and out of lobbies the other night, testing, tuning, racing, no problems at all and then you and Dan go to do the LeMans qualifying and have problems connecting even though your Xbox's report no issues!
LOL
I think it maybe an ISP routing problem because it happens more when you have a mix of UK/US people in a lobby. FLT Newman's from the US and seems to lag out of every TCC round (where just about everyone else in the lobby is UK), but not other races.

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
FOA Simon, just read your Intro to Le Mans and the redirect to the NAT page, you might also want to mention that if those settings are entered under Port Triggering rather than Port Forwarding, it will work for all DHCP IP addresses therefore negating the need to assign a static IP to your Xbox.
