WCM Outlaw wrote:Travis, Smithy backed off from the guy directly in front him not because the guy to his left/right didn't get a good start. Passing the guy in front before the line is obviously clear and a no go, but both videos are of guys "advancing" cuz of drivers in the opposite lane a) didn't maintain position in formation, and b) slowed significantly and even nearly caused an accident.
.
no "Advancing" before the start/finish line.
how about that.
and personally i agree with you. the drivers directly behind the incident managed to keep a good distance and maintain positions, why couldnt the drivers in front. seriously. it's not hard that hard to do.

I apologize guys for stirring up such controversy. For what it means, I'm very much looking forward to Hockenhiem!

Re: GT S9 Stewards Announcments
in understand bud, but in the these particular cases and for future reference as i'm sure this will happen again. What is a driver to do as to not cause an accident and not be penalized even further, but to not pass the guy next to him because of the driver in the other lane not staying in formation or not getting to speed properly or even braking to avoid another driver?

Re: GT S9 Stewards Announcments
Listen to the engine tones in the second vid. I think you're assuming that the rest of the field slowed down and he held his pace, the engine tone tells a different story, he just put his foot in and goes, the same would have happened regardless of it the cars in front slowed down slightly.

No worries, its more of curiosity to what actually happened and clarification to what needs to be done.

Re: GT S9 Stewards Announcments
Wow, talk about things going array when I try and have a night off.
To clarify the rules, It is a case of overtaking one single car from the row in front of you before the line, which is not allowed. In case of anyones confusion, the Orange Mercedes that we are watching, overtakes the white Corvette before the line, which was from the row in front.
Whether they got a bad start or not, this is a flat no, cause any leeway on this could see some drivers using it as an excuse. This is not a rule which will have shades of grey for different circumstances, its just a flat out no, so everyone is on the same page.
P.S. As another point, the first video has a red Mercedes in the background, which by the look of it, also would get done for jump starting as it looks like he got past the Porsche before the line.
P.P.S This thread was never intended to become a discussion thread, or up for debate by anyone else apart from Race Stewards, and those who are involved. So..... lockage!

Stewards Decision - Series: GT | Round 1 | Race 1 | Lobby A
Incident involving drivers #117 F4H Koenigsegg, #707 CQR MAGiC and #555 FMS BriSCA.
Following investigation by the stewards, the following decision concerning the incident between drivers #117 F4H Koenigsegg, #707 CQR MAGiC and #555 FMS BriSCA has been made.
It is the decision of the stewards that #555 FMS BriSCA gained an unfair advantage during the race, and is therefore given a 5 place qualification penalty in the next race of the GT championship.
It was noted that CQR MagicTap did not comment on this inquiry, as it involved a team member. The active stewards were GeneralTSO and SuperDuff. There was no unanimous decision, and so a 3rd opinion was sought from the Staff, which AudiSportLouis kindly gave.
FMS BriSCA submitted that lag had caused the initial incident, which was not contested by the Stewards. The penalty has been awarded on the fact that despite lag causing the incident, FMS BriSCA should have relented the gained positions to the two drivers adversely affected - #117 F4H Koenigsegg and #707 CQR MAGiC.

The Stewards would like to remind drivers to ensure they use the free car from the download pack, as it is the experience of the team that cars such as the Volkswagon Bora may cause more damage.
