Re: TCS or no TCS?
Very interesting subject.
I've submitted mine but I think there's one option which you could include for the controller users which is:
"Triggers, Buttons or Analogue Sticks"
Reason I say that is because I bet most people in the community use the triggers. But I use the right analogue stick to accelerate and brake.

Re: TCS or no TCS?
Yeah I migrated to manual with clutch when I started FM4 and it was the best thing I've done since switching to manual all those years ago.

Re: TCS or no TCS?
Well it all depends what I'm driving. with GT I use TCS on and braking line on all else off. But for tcc braking line only.
Still swapping the wheel and pad around. With enough non racing practice I will be good enough to to race with it but currently I am better on the pad

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I wish they would turn off braking line i hate it. i used to run normal steering but i find the braking alot better with sim handling. I run all assists off, from time to time i do use my wheel and in car view.

Other than that, I can't believe anyone would need braking line in races. Maybe when practicing a car/track combo for the first time... but to use the most unrealistic assist all the time? C'mon folks, learn the track.
Hee hee I knew that was gonna annoy someone! Not that it makes any difference but I don't use it as a brake marker especially not in a race situation as you'll end up punting someone off the track trying to find it. On corners I struggle to find the apex is the reason I use it and I guess I've gotten so comfortable with it being there I can't let it go even though my pals S2M Ranger and S2M Coblet both tell me I should.
LOL, aren't you the one who punted me off in the braking zone of turn 2 in race two last night?
Nope, might want to check your replay bud, because I can assure you it wasn't me! There's more than a few people that would vouch for me in saying that's not the way I do business! I'll be happy to send you the replay if you don't have it.
I'll take you for your word, but now know who it was. Sorry for the mistake. But, seeing as I forgot to save the replay, could you send it over? I'll send you a FR. Thanks.
Re: TCS or no TCS?
I have the braking line on but dont use it fully its more of a reminder to start braking or I just keep going in to deep and running wide
Re: TCS or no TCS?
Sorry in advance for the thread hijack(!) but I also have a question:
In real life when you change gear, at least in a "normal" car, you lift off the throttle, depress the clutch, change gear and then apply throttle again.
In a race car with a sequential box, it normally has a secondary clutch, pre-preparing the next gear, so when you shift, you don't release the throttle.
What do you guys do in-game? Until recently I've always done a momentary lift while shifting, but recently have found myself not lifting at all in "race spec" cars. Is there time to be found doing one or the other?

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I keep the throttle in. Unless its a downshift obviously. But when upshifting I always keep on the gas. If you lift off you will lose time as you have to put your finger back on the gas.

What if Im using clutch, then you need to lift while applying clutch rightCrisis Nine wrote:I keep the throttle in. Unless its a downshift obviously. But when upshifting I always keep on the gas. If you lift off you will lose time as you have to put your finger back on the gas.

I meant when using clutch, no reason to lift off at all. Certainly don't need to lift off when using manual without clutch. Clutch or no clutch, keep the power on.

Re: TCS or no TCS?
Blipping is when you essentially prepare the engine to spin at the "destination" RPM when downshifting.
e.g.
- you're travelling in 3rd at 3000rpm
- you're about to downshift to 2nd, which at this speed will be 4500rpm
- as you disengage the clutch you "blip" the throttle to spin the engine up to 4500rpm so when you engage 2nd, it's already up to speed, providing a smoother downshift, and preparing the car for better acceleration.
...plus it sounds cooler....

Re: TCS or no TCS?
Its when you give it a bit of throttle just as you downshift so it matches the speed of the gear you're changing down into, just a blip.Crisis Nine wrote:BG Hainesy wrote:Sometimes, depends on the car really.WWR Aero wrote:Do you also "blip" the throttle whilst downshifting?

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I use clutch and never lift and never blip, its faster that way.
Plus now I have auto clutch. does the clutch press for me as the paddles also act as the a button with auto clutch turned on with the fanatec so it's pressing the clutch for me.

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I don't use clutch. Using a clutch button with a wheel feels like... Mixing sweet with savoury. Sometimes it works for others, but just not for me.
