Plus now I have auto clutch. does the clutch press for me as the paddles also act as the a button with auto clutch turned on with the fanatec so it's pressing the clutch for me.
Lucky bugger.

Re: TCS or no TCS?
Pad user, with manual clutch remapped to A button.
I don't normally lift when changing up gears, except occasionally there's a fast corner where you need to change up as you turn in, sometimes then I lift and change which can help it turning in.
I don't normally blip when changing down gears, but sometimes there's an awkward corner or transition where a blip can help mid-corner.

Lol, I've got into a bad habit of doing it since the GT two? seasons ago where the rear on the Aston used to lock a bit under heavy breaking!

WWR Aero wrote:Do you also "blip" the throttle whilst downshifting?
Good question, for me there is no absolute answer.
I would agree that to downshift without a 'blip' of the throttle will ultimately slow you down quicker. However, I find that this is dependant on which corner you're navigating. There are certain tricky corners where I find a 'blip' of the throttle on downshift will stabilise the car under braking. Whenever practising, this is one of the techniques I explore for each corner to establish the more effective method.
As a pad user, something else which I find useful is the ability to tamper with the deadzones. Dependant on the class of car, I will either open up the deadzones or reset to default (more often than not it becomes a compromise between the two).
If you're a pad user and have never tampered with your deadzones, it will be set to default which means you aren't necessarily getting an appropriate amount of steering angle for the car you use as well as a small delay in the throttle application. It is of course a matter of preference but I urge anyone who has never altered their deadzones to give it a shot, I can say for certain that this is something that has helped myself on numerous occasions
For me, all of this will be moot now as I've just ordered my Fanatec wheel

I only changed my trigger deadzones to 0/100 and found it made my driving smoother if anything, I have better throttle and braking response thank you cob.

Nice one Coblet, hope it works well for you bud!
I've been toying with the idea of a wheel pretty much ever since I met you guys, but now I've caught the golfing bug again and I'm now eyeing a new set of clubs, so i may never end up getting a wheel.

Other than that, I can't believe anyone would need braking line in races. Maybe when practicing a car/track combo for the first time... but to use the most unrealistic assist all the time? C'mon folks, learn the track.
Hee hee I knew that was gonna annoy someone! Not that it makes any difference but I don't use it as a brake marker especially not in a race situation as you'll end up punting someone off the track trying to find it. On corners I struggle to find the apex is the reason I use it and I guess I've gotten so comfortable with it being there I can't let it go even though my pals S2M Ranger and S2M Coblet both tell me I should.
LOL, aren't you the one who punted me off in the braking zone of turn 2 in race two last night?
Nope, might want to check your replay bud, because I can assure you it wasn't me! There's more than a few people that would vouch for me in saying that's not the way I do business! I'll be happy to send you the replay if you don't have it.
I'll take you for your word, but now know who it was. Sorry for the mistake. But, seeing as I forgot to save the replay, could you send it over? I'll send you a FR. Thanks.
No problem, there was quite a bit of carnage in race 2, so it was an easy mistake to make. I will chuck the replay over to you this afternoon.

I honestly have no idea what my handicap is Jono, I've never had it figured up for me. I played in a tournament with a friend of mine the other day and we ended up 3rd overall. I was pretty happy with that considering it was the first time I'd played in 2 years other than the occasional practice swings in my backyard. I've been playing since my mid teens but I got married a few years a go.............................and well you know how that goes!

Not the first either, we used to have a pro golfer on here back in the day.

I know exactly what you're saying Deuce.......I got my handicap down to 5.3 when I was at college, it'd probably need to be 53 now
Once I'd qualified as a Golf Course Manager I suddenly lost the appetite for the game - after 10 hours at work playing golf was like taking a Busman's Holiday
I did still try to play once a week but the wife & kids took care of that - it's difficult to find 4 hours of spare time these days!!

5.3...... .............Impressive, if you'd a been on our team they'd a been calling you the "ringer" and not me! I'll have to pick up Tiger Woods and get us a virtual tournament going. Is that the latest version I've seen you playing?

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I use pad with triggers. Only assist I use is breaking line. I'm to lazy to be bothered to remember the breaking point for every track.
I don't let off when up-shifting, and I don't blip on down-shifts. I have been using manual w/clutch sense the beginning of the year, if not a month or two before. :p
I have no idea how to mess with my pads deadzones (didn't even know that was possible), and not sure I would want to mess with them. Seems as though they could be a hassle. :p
I like bonnet/hood view, because using in car view in a lot of cars cuts off my field of vision.
I hate both TCS and ABS. In the game or real life. I find I can break more efficiently with my foot than any ABS equipped car I've ever driven. I also tend to only like cars that still have a distributor. I likes to set my timing to maximum vacuum. :p

Re: TCS or no TCS?
i use manual w/clutch since part way through FM3. When i used to roam the RWD-A class hopper, i realized after turning the clutch on, my times improved by about a second, and i havent looked back. havent used ABS since joining TORA. and only use the 'Braking Only' line. cannot consistently remember every braking point. TCS for me, i only use on certain race cars. production cars i am fine without it, though

Re: TCS or no TCS?
I can't turn ABS off and the clutch on at the same time because my clutch is mapped to the left bumper. And before you say it, I'm not a fan of the clutch at the A button. It's too easy for me to miss one of the 2 buttons I'd be pressing.
