Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
the guys are pitching camp near rouge raceteam (sorry if it's the wrong name, but i knew it was something like that) for the second half of the real 24 hour Britcar race, so it has now taken the spot of what was the 12 hours
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
i hope i get enough for 2 teams because i'm torn between the 370Z in group A and the Veloster turbo in group B :s
both are really good to drive, i think i like this more than le mans :O

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
Unless I've done something wrong with the build, the Aston V12 Vantage can't be fitted with race tyres. To get the car within the weight limit and the p.i limit, I can only fit sports tyres rather than race ones.
Just been checking the rules for the production class and it says that race tyres are required.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
nope it can be fitted with race tyres, dan power limit is when you add the 15% power handicap lol
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
so yes race tyres and build does fit if im on later will send you over build
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
You're not listening Duncan. I know about the power handicap with it, but to get the car to p.1 620, you can only fit sports tyres, not race tyres. So I'm not sure what the weight of your car is, but the maximum allowed is 2,999lbs.
EDIT: You was quicker than myself on reply. lol

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
The PI of the Aston Martin is 660, not 620. The PI is listed on the car list, but I can understand the confusion as it isn't stated in the rules.
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
When I checked earlier on the car list, it didn't say p.i 660 for the Aston. It was the same as the others in class. But thanks for clarifying that one Richard.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I'm not even sure what class I am going to participate in, but I have one hope: that there is no car than can reach both minimum weight and maximum power at the same time.
I have found that a few such cars exist in TCC... now I know the main reason I was so far off pace.
If there is such a car, please banish it into Never Never Land just so I don't feel the urge to send whoever uses it there.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
desicion just got a lot hard, decided to try the Ford GT Mk7, now i have to decide between TORA GT, Production GT and clubman :s i guess it will come down to which has a combination of: if i drive quicker compaired to everyone else, whichever is more fuel efficient and which is easier to get more consistant lap times
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
After some discussion the other night after our announcement, we started to talk about stint length. Currently the stints will be 1hr 45min long, however we are looking at the option of running each stint for 2hrs 45mins.
If the stints were 2hrs 45mins long some things would change:
-Pit stops would actually be required to get new tyres or more fuel
-There would be 8 stints rather than 12, making it an easier split for the 4 drivers
-The biggest delay for us at Le Mans was the fact that at 12 points throughout the race we had to setup new lobbies, invite everyone in and deal with connection issues. This would be reduced by using 8 longer stints.
-Double stinting would be reduced (although not frowned upon) and this reduction would allow us to get lobbies started straight away on the hour and reduce delays even further. With less people double stinting we would be more on time.
However, it is nearly 3 hours of solid driving.
We would like the community's thoughts on this.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
Good but id rather it be the standard stint time and if you want to run for nearly 3 hours you double.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I'd prefer the basic 2 hour stints, because it may look better on-paper (somehow) for teams of 4 drivers to shove people in those time slots, it's actually significantly harder to find people willing/able to get 3 hours straight in at a time.
Just coming off of the XBR 12 Hours of Silverstone, you could tell people were getting tired of things by the end of the third hour, especially when they had damage. It almost encourages on-the-spot rage-quitting...
