well my two cents agree with Simion 2 hour 45 is a endurance race stint so im game for this !
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I recon 2 hr 45 will be tough but it will be a lot easier for the organizers as well, and this is an endurance race and 1 hr 45 min stint isn't long enough, at Le mans I was looking forward to a nice long race with other drivers and it was over before I knew...
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I would prefer the 1.45 stints, much easier to get drivers to be able to cover the times that way. Especially during the early hours where its more likely that a team needs to double stint.

I'd prefer 1:45 as well, yes it's an enduro race but I don't fancy racing with a pad for 2:45! Plus it's just easier to cover drivers and if you lag out early on then it's less of a penalty so if you lag out you're atleast still in with a chance of a half decent result, that's what I think anyway.

I've done 6 solid hours in both endurance races. So it shouldn't be too hard I'm fine with doing both.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
we ran 3hr stints (ran til 2hr45 if i recall) in the 2011 TORA 24hr LeMans Challenge, and i loved it! shame i had to off the track leading up to Indianapolis 2/3rds of the way through my 2nd stint, cuz i couldnt hold going to the bathroom any longer.
...thinking back, if i had gone before the final stint started, i probably would've been able to catch back up with the GLR Audi. oh well.

I like 2hrs 45.
That's the real endurance style with pitstop.

I think 2hrs is more than long enough to sit none stop staring in front of your tele, as it is only a game not like real life were you can actually look around and see more than 4 walls lol.

Two hour stints. I have done a three hour stint in the XBR 12h of Nordschleffe, and could hardly finish one stint, where in the TORA 24H of LeMans, I could triple... the difference is in the break @ two hours.
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
2.45hr stints FTW haha ill even double stint through the night
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
A couple things to think about:
The more people you add to your team, the more connection risks you'll encounter. I know a few FM4 racers who I trust to share a ride with, subtract those already with a team, then subtract those with unstable connections, and there's not many possibilities to team up with. Which brings me to my next point...
Lagging out or destroying the car 15 minutes into a couple two hour stint is a deep hole to dig your team out of, 15 mins into a couple three hour stints and most people would find something else to do than race three hours at a time while 6 hours behind the field.
Racing three hours at a time with few cars on the track due to lag outs and/or severe damage is a great way to lose concentration, lose interest, or fall asleep.
I guess I shouldn't mind winning on attrition, but it will feel a bit hollow a victory.

i would be up for the 2hr45 mins as it will be a proper endurance race then....
but i will be up for either stint length.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I did a 3hr race for a Le Mans enduro. I was 2 laps ahead of the second place driver in the P1 division. It was an endurance of how long I can keep myself focused when there was no one else to race against aside from lapped traffic.
For the record there were 3 P1's, 2 P2's and 6 GT's racing at the time.
As someone who's made four trips from New York to Ohio ((10 hour drive)), I think I'd be able to manage a three hour stint. Not sure if I could double stint

I've discussed this with our team at OcR and all four of us who will enter the Britcar completely agree with every point made by Mike. We competed in the 24hr Le Mans and started and finished every single stint (no lag outs) finishing in 3rd overall and loved every minute.
But 3 Hours is simply too long, first bit of damage and the interest would fall through the floor. My suggestion would be to ban double stinting in order to make it run smoother.
We did all agree with forced pit stops though, we think this would be a good idea.

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
ive driven from Connecticut to North Carolina, with the only stops for fuel and a bathroom break, and that was about 11hrs. mind you, i had my '09 STi with a CBE installed, and enjoyed every minute of it. love the Subaru 'rumble'. My uncle... not so much, and i quote, "Next time, you have to put the stock exhaust back on"

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
I wouldn't ban double stinting, as sometimes having someone run back to back stints is needed within a team; I would suggest that that there should not be double stinting between certain stints though. (eg: between the 3rd & 4th stints, 6th & 7th stints, and 9th & 10th stints) That way, if a lobby gets behind schedule, there will be a chance to get back on schedule.OcR Project239X wrote:...

And yes to forced pit stops. I have yet to pit for a TEC race.

Unless you end up with a two man team. Single stints would prevent anyone from actually sleeping. When I did the 24 with Andy, I had to triple stint so that he could get six hours of sleep, then he tripled while I slept. And we had planned on a third driver, but he failed to show up due to a power outage. I know of other teams that had the same issues with teammates not showing up, including a guy who did four or five stints in a row due partly to his teammates' connections failing.

2.45 for me, alot easyer to organise aswell.

I don't think i'll be competing in this, but if i was, i'd up for it.
Anywho, by the time you've raced for 2hrs, another hour makes no difference to be honest!

Beanz, wanna run a stint with us? Not too sure which class just yet, but I am thinking of running in the 24H of the Stone with Hailfire and I think we'll need one more driver.
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
Thanks for the feedback regarding stint time. We still would like more however, but we will be making a decision this week.
So far, going by numbers, there is more in favour for 2hrs 45mins stints however I am in complete agreement with the issues that going for that long can cause, although it will also be a good thing tactically for a race like this regarding pitstops.
The more people who chip in the better!

Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
Want pit stops? Why not force drag slicks? That would be an effective way to make people pit, and add some tire strategy to the race... like F1 on Pirellis.
Re: TORA Britcar 24 Hours of Silverstone - General Discussion
Yeah but the cars don't handle the same and that would put even more people off than running longer stints. We tried it at Le Mans awhile ago and whilst it was fun, not many people wanted to do it.

maybe a bit late to add slicks to the event , but good call though ive raced using these tyres before and it makes you think about your strategy as 1 lap to late or to early can destroy your race ive found , it also makes you think about your tuning more also as mass downforce is a no go for these tyres.
