TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
On the back of the Super GT events on saturday, with one or two people interested before even putting this down on the forum, and with there already being a classic Trans-Am series. I would like to put the following series forward for a few saturday slots sometime in early 2013.
There are plenty of cars from the 1963-1972 era of Sportscar and Touring Car racing.
Having looked through the archives on the internet, I belive I have come up with a formula.
Two Classes ("Divisions"), based on Engine Capacity.
Bodywork Upgrades dependant on what division the car is in (see below)
Wheels must not be upgraded, and kept in their original form.
No Engine Swaps
No Aspiration Swaps
No Drivetrain Swaps
ABS OFF
Traction Control OFF
Stability Control OFF
Manual Gears (With or without clutch)
Division I
(Under 2500cc) Max PI 400:
No Bodywork Upgrades, but bumpers can be removed.
1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale
1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT
1966 Lotus Cortina
1971 Lotus Elan Sprint
1966 MG MGB GT
1969 Nissan Fairlady Z 432
1970 Nissan Datsun 510
1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R
1970 Porsche 914/6
1969 Toyota 2000GT
1963 Volkswagen Beetle
1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
Division II
(Above 2500cc or 1250cc for turbocharged cars) Max PI 500:
Bumpers can be removed where possible, only "SPORT" bodywork can be added where available.
1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal
1964 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage
1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII
1971 BMW 3.0 CSL
1973 BMW 2002 Turbo
1967 Chevrolet Stingray 427
1969 Chevrolet Corvair Monza
1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
1971 De Tomaso Pantera
1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4
1965 Ford Mustang GT Coupe
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429
1973 Ford XB Falcon GT
1967 Lamborghini Miura P400
1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3
1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS
Liveries:
Replica paints more than welcome, TORA Race numbers may not matter that much if some of the replica numbers clash.
If attempting your own livery, sponsor vynils from the 63-72 era are advised, but not compulsory.
If not a replica then Either National Racing colours or the original manufacturer colours, with a number on a circle vynil.
Provisional Calendar (2 x 30 Minute Races at each venue unless stated):
Jim Clark Rennen - Hockenhiem Short
Tourist Trophy - Silverstone National
Eifelrennen - Nurburgring Nordschleife (12 Lap Single Race)
Coupe du France - Le Mans WITH Chicanes (24 Lap Single Race)
Sedan Trophy - Maple Valley Short
Suzuka Tourist Trophy - Suzuka East

This sounds like my cup of tea, but Saturday nights generally don't work with me...
Also, LeMans w/o chicanes is a bad idea; in terms of top speed, slow cars will be slow, fast cars will be fast, and the fastest overall will win.

Nothing is set in stone yet Even Classic Le Mans use the chicanes...

...sorry Stan, what did you say, didn't hear you, I was uploading this...
Lol, not goinna be running this, was just seeing if it would work, however the race number does look like one of those "GO" signs if the temporary lights arent there.

Camino Reverse - Meh
Nordschleife - Good
Le Mans no chicane - Good
Bernese Alps - No, please no. Horrible Turismo-ish lameass waste of data on FM4's disc.
Road America - Good
Maple Short - Great for me (as one of my better tracks) but would rather see MV Full forward or reverse
Positano & Fujimi Kaido - see also Bernie's Alps.
Instead of some outrageously fakey tracks built expressly to appeal to the fringe/casual gamer, why not:
Sedona Club - FM's closest thing to the classic Riverside circuit
Sunset Infield - FM's equivalent to Daytona Infield
and Infineon Full - an original classic circuit.

If the FM3 Full Positano was on here it would definately be getting in, it would be even more in if it had a pitlane...

Hmm... upon further thought: if you squint REALLY hard, Positano reminds me somehow of the Goodwood Festival.
An interesting idea: Positano for a full series, using both directions, with a different classification of classic racers each week. 1950s LM cars, 1950-63 Small Sports Cars, 1950-64 Large Displacement Sports Cars, 1964-74 GT, 1980-99 LM Prototypes.

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
You could just use Le Mans for that

LeMans is nothing like the Goodwood circuit.

Silly Question: What about number colour. If you pick a German car will it need to be red or if you pick a British will it need to be white?

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
I may be wrong, but if you pick a german car, national colours are either silver or white arent they?
So if its white, then a black number, if silver then black number on a white circle, or a red number with black edges.
If British Racing green then either a white number, or a black number on a white circle.

No, you're right. But on wikipedia it tells you the cars national colours as well as what the number is. So Germany should be a silver car with a red number.

Some of the national racing colours are a bit out of date for what I'm planning.

Not cool Adrian :/ I just finished replicating the Touring Car Masters (pre '77 cars that support the V8s) and you do this, as long as either the falcon XB, impala or javelin are in I'm good
Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
But in saying that, I'm so in no matter what

Nowt much history left at silverstone, If we go there It will have to be the National circuit, closest to the most unchanged layout.

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
Guys, I'd be using the falcon, and it'll be blue because the falcon is an Australian ford, not American rust box, sorry ford (auto correct)
Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
Also, with the tyres does that mean no slicks?
