Look at what you can and cannot do with upgrades and then see what PI the Falcon must stick to, from what I can see so far it will be either more power or slick tyres, not both
Or a choice of two of the following, Slick Tyres, More Power or Lighter Car.

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
i know i have near 40%+ of the total posts here, but if anyone hasn't driven the cars yet, warning, lots of HP, no traction, more of a multi lap drift comp than a pre '77 championship, i love it!!!!!!
Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
Looks good, but we already have quite a few plans for Saturdays for 2013. We'll need to see how we can fit this in, as a Saturday is steadily becoming a TORA Official Race night.
Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
I'm not saying it won't be a Saturday, but we just need to look at our calendar to see where we are planning on putting things for next season. It should be sorted out be the end of the month.

I like the idea of classic car racing. PI difference between the two classes could be bigger IMO (350 for lower class?).

I like the look of this and will wait to see how it's planned on the calendar.
I do have a question about the gearboxes though because these will play a big part in the car builds. Would upgrading the standard gearbox to a Sport gearbox be allowed or even compulsory?
On tracks like Silverstone National you could get away with the stock item and cram on the power whereas try that at Road America and you'll be bouncing off the limiter on the straights.

It would be nice if you could restrict certain upgrades, rather than all of them, that way we could get this series to be a little bit more authentic, I will keep saying that nothing is set in stone yet, things will keep changing, for instance, the Shelby Cobra is off the list I suppose a horse power restriction (200hp for the small engines, 400 for the large) could lead to reducing the combinations of upgrades used on the cars.

I dont want this to get too close to trans-am on the car list, there are three chevvies and three fords, and they all took part in the European Touring Car Championships of the era, that will do nicely

"Wheels must not be upgraded, and kept in their original form"
Does this mean tyre compound or size or kind of alloys?? I know as you said nothing cast in stone im just trying out builds and wanted to ask.Also will there be must fit parts ie brakes, suspension?
Really fancy the lotus Cortina:)

Wheels not Tyres
Its going to be impossible to monitor what people do with their tyres.

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
So...
We cannot make any changes to the bodywork of the car (except to remove bumpers);
We cannot change the rims (and, therefore, cannot change rim size);
We can change the tire compound;
And, we can change the tire widths?
Is that correct?

Re: TORA Classic - European Sports and Saloons '63-'73 - Discussion Thread
That is correct.
Also, take another look at the carlist, I've removed a few to try and make a 10 year spread of cars, from 1963-1972 now instead of 74, I was not keen on having that Stratos in amongst the lower cars, it would have looked out of place. Also that means the BMW 2002 is removed from Division I. In Division 2 the Porsche carrera from 1973 is gone, as is the Ford Falcon.
I may just make both Divisions have the same PI but still score the divisions independantly, the Division I cars would perform well on the shorter circuits, with the Division 2 cars peforming their best on the longer ones.
Still chiselling away...

I will more than likely crowbar the 1973 cars back into place, my only concern is the BMW2002 being too big for Division I
Also the 1973 Porsche 911 will be the only car to have the optional Sport bodywork, not the race bodywork, this is to get rid of the "Carrera" banner from the side of the car to make the Colourscheme more pleasing on the eye for certain liveries, because there is no way to put a vynil over them like you can with so many other cars, the 1987 Ford Sierra for example has the two annoying lines that will not go away...
