Yeah I am gutted Kamui has lost his seat, and I hope he gets one for next year. If not then Toyota could do with him alongside Nakajima.
I also don't see Kovalainen racing next season after he has out performed his Caterham.

I had no idea what their driver line up was for next year until today's practice session... I think that with the current line up caterham could see a point or few next year, however with their new line up, it will take years before that happens.

Doesn't look too good for HRT!
although I like de la rosa. It will be a shame but somone will pick him up as a test driver for sure.
I'm gonna be happy when NK stops racing. He is the worst driver ever.

That's a bit harsh. He's never exactly had any good machinery.

he still he getting outperformed on a daily basis by DLR, and he isn't exactly a quick driver himself.
He's been under the %2 time or whatever it is a few times now. I think the FIA only let him race out of pity.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
could we see AUSTRIA return!??!?!
http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-austria-steps-up-as-turkeys-formula-one-grand-prix-hopes-fade
As Turkey's hopes fade, it looks increasingly possible that Austria will return to the F1 calendar in 2013.
This week, at Bernie Ecclestone's request, the FIA reserved a date for an unidentified additional European race next year.
Istanbul Park's new operator Vural Ak then announced he had reached an agreement "in principle" with the F1 chief executive, pending the Turkish government's support.
Turkey, however, has said no.
"There is nothing on the government's agenda about the return of Formula One to Turkey," sports minister Suat Kilic told the Anatolia news agency.
"This is an issue that entirely concerns the private sector."
Earlier, Austria was suggested as a possible alternative to Turkey for the extra 2013 race date.
The A1-Ring, owned and recently refurbished and re-launched by the energy drinks company, is now called the Red Bull Ring.
And writing in Eurosport, leading F1 business journalist Christian Sylt said Formula One Licensing in 2012 registered a trademark to the name Austrian Grand Prix.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Nice. I always have liked the A1 Ring. Hope all the improvements didn't change the layout too much.
Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
The Osterreichring - It's proper name. This onboard of the original pre-A1 Ring layout has to be one of my favourite F1 videos on the internet. Enjoy!
I was hoping that the redevelopment of the circuit would involve a new, longer layout that incorporated some of the old circut, but that didn't happen. The layout is the same as it was in 2002.
Here's the DTM race from this year.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Like I said, I quite like the circuit.
But on second thought, while Turkey is Tilke, its some of Tilke's best work. I had forgotten about the multi-apex turn 8.
Okay then, let's drop one of the ubergeneric newer tracks, such as China/Korea/India/Bahrain, and add BOTH Turkey and RedBullring.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Bahrain should go, $$$$ says it likely will not.
Guys do you think with the tyres being changed to be easier to heat and more evenly heated with these new sidewalls, That the racing will get closer or will the slightly random tyre luck and races with surprises dissapear?
Been a great season to spectate and I hope its as close next season.

The first Esteban to race in F1 since Argentine driver Esteban Tuero, who was teamed up with Shinki Nakano at Minardi!
And you lot think HRT are bad! Tuero in a Minardi was absolute comedy.

Turkey should make a return, it's a great track, just a shame it won't happen though...Flyin Mikey J wrote:But on second thought, while Turkey is Tilke, its some of Tilke's best work. I had forgotten about the multi-apex turn 8.

China should stay though, i like that track too. As for Korea, India & Bahrain, they are [Censored], they can go for sure.

That's why Red Bull have 'Infiniti' engines via the Renault brand, so they can market something new.
This is old news but i haven't seen it posted, Redbull will infact take the Infiniti name and become "Ifiniti RedBull Racing" next season.
Also i saw an article somewhere that there will be an announcement early next week on the Force India driver line up, i'd expect to see Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil given the seats.

This is a shame, it sucks that it's come to this with drivers basically buying themselves a seat...

But it really seems to have become more prominent in recent years. However, that being said, some pay drivers are actually very decent drivers. Pastor Maldonado, for example. Yes, he may have crashed a lot but he looks to have shaked that off & with a race win & some blistering qualifying performances, he could really do well in a top team.

Re: 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship
Too bad so many race teams would be better referred to as "exclusive rental car agencies". Bernie and Co. had better come up with something better than "the best drivers on the planet, as that is a straight up lie.
I remember when every team on the grid was concerned with performance... bloody damn shame that Bernie has let this go on so long.
While it sounds drastic, I think upping the prerequisites would fix the problem. No points scored in previous season? Go back to GP2. No wins in GP2? No F1 in your future. Etc.
