Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
I would say so as there was a lot of variation in pace and would be a natural space also.sbiggs wrote:so would it be preferable to have no roll off at all, and let people find their own space?
Thanks for taking the feedback positively too

Is there not a way that we could still have a roll off but have the timer set to say 10 laps and then everyone stop at the start of the 10th lap, so everyone would get 9 flying laps (the amount of laps I chose was just an example) ??

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
I was thinking, we have sim damage for the races, what happens halfway through a race if theres a huge crash and a driver is upside down on the racing line and cant be turned over due to the sim damage setting???
I really don't want to see a ending like the 2011 Monte Carlo F1 race.

I think in such case the driver should immediately tell the location of accident and the back out from race. This should remove the car from track.FranchittiFan wrote:I was thinking, we have sim damage for the races, what happens halfway through a race if theres a huge crash and a driver is upside down on the racing line and cant be turned over due to the sim damage setting???

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
In that event a corner caution should be thrown, so that the flipped driver can ensure he gets his miles. Then back out when the area is clear just to be safe in the event the car re-flips and lag spike for him leaving...
If he does so quickly, may not need a caution. But if in the chaos another driver or two get collected and all of them are blocking the track a red flag or caution should be thrown to sort out the miles and drivers. Just to safe from any other accidents or lag damage that could occur in such an event.

Definitely, the roll off is not needed in the Endurance qualifying, that way everyone gets the full 15 minutes, plenty of time to make their own space and get their laps in. Only need the roll off for Sprint qualifying where it's a fixed number of laps.

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
agreed however drivers must be smart and not block others starting laps or hitting others while finding space.

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
Collisions are off anyway
Scrapping the roll off is just so everyone gets the full 15 minutes, rather than some sitting on the grid waiting for up to a minute

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
This really should happen - I lost 45 seconds of quali time due to the roll-off.
It doesn't sound like a lot but even a couple of seconds could be the difference between getting an extra lap.

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
sorry what I meant was not going into another drivers ghost during a lap.

Re: TORA MSA GT Endurance Series - General Discussion
That can't really be helped though, especially if there's a mix of GT3 and GT4 cars in the qualifying lobby!

That will be upto the drivers and also that was happening anyway due to the variation in pace between drivers and classes

Not really be better to have no roll and still run 15 mins then 5 minutes take down time having a timer puts a little added pressure in trying to get an extra lap from somewhere

I have been saying this for some time.....I missed my fasted lap at nurb8 by 2 seconds while waiting for a minute on the roll off.
But the comment was that in X minutes you have plenty of time to set a fast lap.
And when i asked for fixed laps (you can easly calculate how many laps go in 15 min)
the comment was that then the GT3's have to wait on the GT4's...and that would slow down the night.......
And there would be no change to the rules.
