GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
Well after the carnage crapshoot opening night of the fun cup we've learned a few things about where to go from here
1) Ovals do not work
2) Ovals really do not work
3) The format was rather long
So the proposal is this
Dump the ovals. Bring in the stock Evora T124 alongside the Renault Twingo, having a sprint race in the Twingo followed by a longer race with a pitstop for the Evora
Keep the rules as is, auto gears TCS ABS STM on.
Six rounds, dropping worst meeting score
No safety cars or rolling starts, it's a swine to organise
Any suggestions of things I've missed?

Agree, I have a few more things that we've learned though:
1) Ovals do not work
2) Ovals really do not work
3) The format was rather long
4) Drivers need to listen and understand race calls
5) Lightspeed cars like LMP cars do not work with Rookies.

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
That sounds like a great format for the series.
The trucks weren't too bad but the Acuras were crazy and it all got a bit messy after lap 11 (I couldn't hear Jordan's Mike and I ploughed into a few people who had stopped to re-start which didn't help and I apologise for that).
The Twingos worked really well and I think the addition of the Evoras would be fantastic.

Yeah and my mic was either crap or lag didn't help
But we 100% need to stay at road courses without cautions or rolling starts, especially for beginners

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
Yeah I think it'll be much easier for rookies to do standing starts and at the start of every meeting make sure everyone is clear on the event procedures and make sure if anybody is unsure to ask.
As long as everyone understands what they need to do I think the series will run smoothly, but it can be a bit daunting doing your first event on TORA.

100% Agree, first races are daunting, I remember mine..
But yeah, this new revision should work

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
We'll probably run a small-lobby practice run between now and the beginning of July, maybe incorporating a test in other machinery for another series we're doing (wink wink) and open entries in a week or two

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
I was afraid of being too ... "italian" saying that ovals really do not work.
Thank's God i'm not alone!
However twingo's race has been a good race and the mjg36's proposal seems very good.
About race calls: what do you think about practical lessons?

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE oval racing. A hell of a lot! but they don't work with rookies.
And yes, that's a good suggestion, running some sessions on race calls would be quite a good idea! I'll put it to the marshalls!

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
Is the series still open for any registrations or would we have to wait for the next round?
Also are all the assists mandatory?

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
The full series will start early July, check out the calendar thread mate :-)
Yep full assists on unless we get to two lobbies then we may run a pro-am lobby with manual gears

Re: GoDaddy fun cup - Season 1 Discussion
Basically as I've said I can't host a lobby anymore and thought it rude to be fishing round for other people to host because I can't do it. If anyone want to get in on it that's cool I just didn't wanna be the one saying "I need x hosts because I've organised this mega series but my boss is a douche"

When we (BG Chico and I) ran round there I got down to a 1:37.9 so that's a good effort.
