TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
I thought I would post a few snippets and thoughts for the TEC 2013 as we build up to the final round of 2012.
There will be 5 Championship rounds next season, and 4 of them will be very familiar to those who ran in 2012.
All races will either be 12 Hours or 24 Hours.
There will be a Drivers and Teams Championship in 2013, we are still working on the Teams aspect.
All races will have two classes. One fast, one slow.
There won't be much change to the car lists throughout the year, however there will be one major change after Round 2. Basically, the first two rounds will use the same car list, and the second two rounds will use another set car list.
We are thinking of doing something a little bit different for the the round, but it is something we would like your opinion on. Our TEC races tend to reflect the real races as much as possible, and as such you see the usual TORA standard of large amounts of cars to choose from from various manufacturers. This is more of a fun aspect and to create a good spectacle to watch on the TV as well as take part in.
However, with variety in cars comes unbalance. We try our best to balance the cars so that there is not one overly dominating car. We saw this with the Acura at Le Mans and we have seen the same few cars dominate A lobby in most of our series. We try our best and for the most part it works, and there is no doubt a lot of the speed comes from the drivers and tuning teams themselves. In that respect, spec series and spec cars are usually what determines the best from the best.
I am proposing for next seasons TEC that the fifth and final round of the Championship will use spec cars across the two classes. This means there will be one type of car in the fast class, and one in the slow class. They will be built to spec, and it will be purely down to driver skill, tuning skill and reliability to come out on top.
We didn't want to announce this as a part of the season without gauging the reaction from you guys, but I believe it will be a very good test for everyone, and as it is part of the championship it will still fall under the rules we put in place from the beginning of the year. This also covers us for any possibility of Forza 5 or another game being released towards the end of next year and means we won't have rush to make a balanced car list.
If it is an unpopular idea then we may use a previous car list from one of the other 2013 TEC rounds.

I like the idea of having one "spec series" race in the endurance series, you guys should really do this. I do think that we will see the same group of fast drivers in front as they are just really good in what they do.
The cars that dominate are most of the time driven by those top guys. You can put them in any car and they are fast.
When there is a car list we always try to test them all and find the best car, i find this part fun and adds to the build up for the big race. I am sure that those other teams that are always in front also spend the time to find the best possible car from the list.

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
Thank for the feedback so far guys, we want to hear all your pros and cons on this idea.
I guess another question should be:
Race Cars or Productions Cars?
My intention was to use Race Cars, as this would limit build options.

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
Would like to see a return of Production cars, they are a huge part of the history here at TORA, however Race cars could be better for longer races.

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
Spec 911 Cups. Or some other sort of Series spec car, like perhaps a Ferrari 458 Challenge or Radical etc
Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
Race Cars seem the natural choice, but with the spec build of a Production Car you can also limit the tuning options (e.g. no race gear box, no wings etc.), if needed.Richy59 wrote:Race Cars or Productions Cars?

What about a mix of GT500 and GT300, or isn't there a large enough speed differential between the two?

the car list we used for the Super GT mini series would work .
Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
24hrs of Daytona. Make the DP car (Mosler, Ultima or Joss, take your pic) and then take a GT4 car from the GT enduro list and use that for the GT car.
done and done, thank you very much lol

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
oooh how about VIPER CUP!!!!
It;s a real thing where you can drive a bunch of different cars all in the same class.
You can have either the GTS Viper GTS-R or the SRT Viper GTS-R as the fast car and then the '99 Viper or the '03 Viper as the slower.

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
I hate vipers though
Fast Class: Radical/Mosler
Slow Class: Production car. Perhaps one of the 4 that took part in that groundbreaking race in 2008?

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
i would like to see a variety but not soo much handicaps have to be issued.
But a spec style race might fun too. as long as we can rebadge them in some way would really make it fun. i.e. ford or chevy power radical, or something.

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
What about a "Green Race"?
Choose either a Hybrid or Electric car for each class.
Say Fully upgraded Tesla for the top class and then the CT200h as the slower, say in B class

Re: TEC 2013 - Pre-season Discussion
If you guys remember my ridiculous schedule proposal for the next season, my first race was the 24 Hours of Sunset (recreation of the 24 Hours of Daytona). You could use the Chevy Orecas as the DP class and the GT3 cars as the GT class.
