Trap speeds are due to downforce and power. The P2s are much lighter, so over the season they will have advantages at some tracks more than others.

The DP tire failures are most likely due to the newly added downforce putting more load on teh tires through the Daytona banking. Having that issue now gives Continental a couple months to get things sorted... let's hope it gets corrected.

@ Bandit, the DPs extra downforce comes mainly in the form of splitters and diffusers, but the new bits on the upper panels just make the cars look a bit sleeker and more aggressive.

My wife made an interesting observation about the WEC calendar: eight weekends of racing doesn't even come close to a part-time job. More like semi-retirement.

As for Pinnacle of Motorsport: Formula 1 by far, this coming from a NASCAR guy. And, as he continues to set records with his wins, Vettel is on a higher pinnacle that anyone else at the present.

Does any series do all of the above? Besides, gymkhana and drifting are "Figure Skating" and "Syncronized Swimming" with cars. I am unable to glorify either by using the term "Motorsport" in the same sentence.

Which is why I believe no series can be considered the pinnacle of motorsport, only the pinnacle in their discipline.
