Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Without engine swaps that GT-R is even worse in the corners and I believe has even more top speed (the rating jumps to 8.0) while accelerating worse. The Aston and Merc both took off on corner exit and the GT-R catches up and never stops accelerating. Right now we running just over 550 hp, changed the build for the races. We've ran 6-8 hp over minimum and almost 3400 lbs in both races with a car that is an absolute handful.
Literally no one picked the GT-R until we got in it. It's the reason it was chosen, I didn't even drive another car. We then made the best of it we could and even looked at CQR times in the car. I think Magic had a boarded time in it on Silverstone before the first race that was a bit off the pace. The same thing happened when we got in the S2000, no one wanted it at the Ring in the previous game and we got in it and made it as good as we could and only then was it was too fast. There are a lot more Astons than there are Nissans in the previous two races so take that for whatever it is worth. Everyone is pretty much in two vehicles (Aston and Merc). My question is if everyone did testing, and it appears many did, why wasn't it chosen by others? Just irks me when someone works to get a car going and does it is too fast but if we were miles off the pace in the LFA no one would be helping us and no one would be griping about their Aston Martin.
I don't disagree about scrapping the series with better testing but damn, what a black eye in any circumstance. This was just not proper testing of cars across the board. It isn't the new game, literally nothing has changed build or tune wise from what we've done for the past 6 years.

The only issues are the console itself. The game is virtually the same as before. You build cars just like you did before. You tune cars, with the exception of camber, just like you did before. Everything is the same except graphics and the pos xbox you play it on.
Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Nissan GT-R was the first car I built and I just stuck with it, it took me and Wispaking 3 days just to get it do consistent laps and it's still a bit of a handful in the corners. Which is why I think the speed in the straights is fair.
Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Sorry Worm I didn't articulate my point correctly, I didn't mean the GTR is PI unbalanced (as in it does too fast a lap time etc), I meant the way it achieves it makes it difficult to race against other cars that perform their lap time in a different way, you guys driving it have the opposite problem that we're too quick in the corners. Hope that makes sense it wasn't meant as a dig at TG or any of the GTR drivers. The real issue is the whole series is poorly conceived, poorly tested and poorly run, probably the worst series I've entered at TORA.

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
No, I knew you weren't having a dig at us. Cars should have set builds so no one can find things, they should run similar in corners and in top speed. If one runs a bit faster in the corner it should run a bit faster in the straight. Not to the tune that these cars have because in a race the fastest accelerating car always wins. Just look at the Lambo in the last GT classes on FM4. Start on pole, finish 8th.
Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Picked my car with a randomizer just to avoid all this car balance BS that always happens.
Anyway, my race recap.
Didn't hear the start, got swamped immediately. Saw 2 cars on my right so I moved a little to left, then noticed a car on my left. Moved back a little to the right, and then was takin out. 4th to last in about 15 seconds.
To say I'm finished with this series is putting it mildly. After all that time put into preparing for the race and then for it to be over before I even make it to the first corner is beyond ridiculous. I could have spent a fraction of the time racing in a public lobby and had better racing.

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Lack of Staff etc was due to it being Easter. Everyone has real lives, many of the Staff are going through patchy times recently. As for Marshals and the CT, many of them don't have an XB1.CQR Jono wrote:TG Wormburner wrote:Many thanks for what you did tonight Wingnut.
Absolutely Worm - without Wingnut we probably wouldn't have got to race tonight, huge thanks Wingnut
Also, CQR Aero has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure this series got off the ground with very little assistance. I would loved to help out more with the running of events but looking after 2 young children is not conducive to concentration on race days Anyway, I thought that's why we have large Staff, Community, Media, Steward and Marshall teams.......to help plan, test, promote, organise and run these events.
When TORA was 'buzzing' during the heady days over the past 18 months or so you couldn't move for videos, pictures, race reports, social media promotion - everything appears to have ground to a halt now
I did think maybe it was me, that I was missing something........so I've just checked the TORA twitter feed. I found lots of posts about real world Motorsport escapades, link ups with racing teams, etc but virtually nothing about this community or the events the site is hosting.
Maybe the lights of the real world racing paddock are shining brighter these days than those in our virtual version
Such a shame...............
As for what else you mentioned about media, we're just as active as we were 18 months ago. We have a photographer (and other people are more than welcome to snap pics). He is also making monthly update videos. I have made videos too recently, notably Sebring.
Social media is also very active at the moment. We have Facebook which reaches an average of 400 people per post, and we usually post once every few nights. Twitter is constantly active. And yes, we do have contacts with real racing in an attempt to take the TORA name to new places.
However yes, this particular series has had little promotion. That would unfortunately be down to me not having an XB1. I can't make videos or really do anything to the best of my ability here. I am very out of touch with the series and I can't really comment on it as I've never even played FM5.
You have to understand that with a new console comes a huge new world of issues. With a previous jump to a new game on the same console, it's pretty much guaranteed that everyone here would own the game in a few months. However with a new console, some members may not get the console for over a year or so, and it's things like that which cause issues with the regular running of events. We are looking to expand the teams, no doubt, and it's likely that more details about that will head your way soon.
The console switch has caused the biggest stress on TORA I've seen since I've been on Staff, if not at TORA altogether. However with each race that is ran, we get a better idea of what is needed to run smoothly.
Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
first off i`d also like to say a huge thank you for those that stood in last night to get this sorted, although it was a complete shambles i do appreciate your efforts and realize it wasn`t really your problem.
surely there`s an admin section, surely staff or whoever could have foresight to see easter "motorsport" bank holiday sunday is a busy day and also that there wasn`t going to be staff to oversee the nights event. maybe there`s more to it than that, if so fair enough.
i have to say i`ve wanted to do this gt series with tora ever since i joined but couldn`t due to my commitment to my clubs sunday leagues. there always seemed to be a huge hype and good vibes about the gt series, i`m slightly gutted it`s turned out like it has.
regarding the cars, i do feel for the better handling cars like the vipers and lfa`s. when pixel tested the cars it was blatantly obvious the aston was by far the best all round car and the "leaderboard" car for hotlapping. with that in mind we agreed we couldn`t use it. it was also obvious that the lfa was woefully slow on the straights, the lambo was woefully slow everywhere, a few others were fairly evenly matched and that the gtr had a real trump card. yes it`s great in a straight line but a complete dog through the corners and i`d like to know who out of the faster gtr guys are racing without tc as some of the times they are getting i take my hat off to if they are.
it must be like red rag to a bull to be right up the tail pipe of the gtr`s through the corners with no possible line to pass only to see them shoot off into the distance down the straight, but then maybe that shows a lack of testing or racing insight.
all in all this series for me has been somewhat of a disappointment due to lack of balanced cars and lack of organisation (can`t be easy and generally tora does a very good job) but i feel forzaprologue5 and the crappy xbox os has a massive part to play in this.
lessons learnt so lets all try take some positives from this series and put them to practice for future ones

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
like pointed out many times before this series is a learning curve for us on a new game plus new console , as things progress it will improve the 360 had 8 years and the X1 is only 6 months old so a bit of patience and racing will be back on par with how it used to be.
The organisation side of things are somewhat split atm with staff on FM4 and 5 plus most of us having things going on in the real world , but if anyone does want to help race nights run smoother then please feel free to join the marshal team as help here does seem to be lacking.

I find the cars hard to drive, they aren't... fun there heavy, lack grip and are very powerful, if I push the car over the limit even slightly, brake a little too late the negative consequences can be huge

BG chose to either pick the aston or lfa as it was A700 so we could swipe tunes off the storefront lol and didn't have to tune the car ourselves.

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Not the best night of racing last night, not sure what was going on but there was no organisation what so ever, race started late with half my team never getting an invite, even thought they signed in and the lack of sportsmanship on the track was a joke.
FairPlay to the hosts and I know most of them was a last minute thing, but others who are marshals need to understand the rules. I understand that the races started late, but you still need to send the invites out a give drivers time to join. You need to remember, they have been waiting around too..

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
Blaming the game and console is frankly a lame excuse - it works the same as previous Forza's, building and balancing cars is no different to what it was in Forza 4. The issue is the lack of organisation and support - how any new series can be setup without even posting a list of lobby settings for hosts to use is laughable. The reason people don't want to get involved with 'helping out' running things is because it turns into chaos due to lack of information, planning and organisation.
Easter hasn't moved, it was always planned for this weekend. WEC hasn't moved it was always planned for this weekend. Aero's baby didn't just appear, it was 9 months in the oven - and yet somebody thought it would be a good idea to schedule a race for last night. Basically, here's the cars and calendar - get on with it.
That's not how to run an online racing series. Look at how it's run elsewhere - Virtual Motorsports or British Sim Racers (www.bsrtv.net), coverage of the races, reports of what happened in the races and promotion afterwards. What happened after TORA GT Round 1? A handful of pictures, no race report, no congratulation to the winner TG Amarth, no tweet or Facebook link to the results or anything. And yet since then there have been 25 non-virtual racing tweets sent from TORA (in fact 25 of the last 30 tweets are nothing to do with the series you run here).
I'll probably get banned for saying this, but I'm not planning to race here anymore so it won't be an issue - I feel that TORA has lost interest in doing the very thing it exists to do, running online championships. In fact it feels like for many, the actual thing you do here, at the coal face, running series is beneath people these days and they'd rather focus on other things instead. And meanwhile, it's left to the teams and drivers that sign up to race here to muddle through it and try and make the best of it. Anyway, that's me done racing here, I've finally run out of patience.

Very correct
Yes I enjoy running things and normally runs a lot smoother than last night but last someone hit the nail on the head for quite a few of the regulars
And other than that I have one thing to say

Wingnut no need for that.
Guys im sure staff are work hard on these issues and it would be good if drivers stayed and were able to help and give feedback than quit, but I understand how it must feel with differences in the cars.

Re: MSA TORA GT Season 11 - General Discussion
So glad I came online to read this thread.....
Apologies for not being online to help out (although behind the scenes I had prepped all of the Live Timing etc, updated the entries and alerted Wingnut to my absence) however as someone already pointed out I have a 21 day old baby who had major heart surgery 14 days ago and wifey needs as much support as she can get at the moment (and I don't think anyone would begrudge me being there rather than here if you know what I mean). Hopefully Sofia will settle into a routine soon and I will be more available to help run race nights again.
I'll try and get the results updated ASAP if they're not already (I haven't looked yet).
