I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet, let Warspite chat with the staff and see if there's any wiggle room if you were to change Silk Cut to something a bit different that still echoes the intended design

Therein lies the problem, my friend. Even if I changed the sponsor, that's why I still can't run it.

No, it's not. You can just change the brand name. Teams have been doing it for years to get around the rule, most notably Ferrari.

You can keep the purple livery but you can't have Tobacco branding on it.

It is a beautiful paint, though. I feel bad for you there, it's an unfortunate rule when it comes to true, historical paints (Silk-Cut Jaguar, Marlboro Ferrari/McLaren, Camel Porsche/Honda etc).

I still reckon they might let that one slide though so long as you lost the 'Silk Cut' bit. It could fall into the catagory of 'indirect' tabacco sponsorship; like how people can get away with things like Rizla and Swan (the latter who make cigarette filters) liveries. I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say that I'd really like to see that livery on the grid

+1 BUT MSA rules are rules....

The rules are loose but it basically comes down to this. You can't put the logo or the brand name of a tobacco company on your car. This includes chewing tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, rolling tobacco, vaporizing tobacco...

You can put papers, filters, all of that stuff that makes a cigarette etc on the car, however. Richy and Ian are fond of their Rizla livery and use it often.

Liveries that historically accompany tobacco sponsorship are fine, too.

The Jordan F1 team (yellow car late 90s / early 00s) used to be sponsored by Benson & Hedges cigarettes. When tobacco sponsorship was banned in the late 90s, they kept the livery but got creative with their "sponsors" - Bitten & Hisses, Buzzing Hornets, Bitten Heroes, for instance.

That's not saying we condone that sort of thing though as we've had to turn down a previous livery which did this, unfortunately. You may remember Ferrari's barcode livery in 2007 - This was a barcode which literally read "Marlboro", which was technically legal by the rules but was under heavy scrutiny.

Then it's settled, Bulin you may run your livery with the changes described and let me know what you wish your team name to be, apologies for the inconvenience but I learned something here today too.

Just replace Silk Cut with Castrol and it should be good to go.

Edit: The sporting regulations state tobacco sponsors are prohibited unless sanctioned by the series. I guess I need approval!

I thought Alcohol Sponsors were permitted.  I knew Tobacco and Adult related ones are not allowed, but I always thought that Alcohol was allowed.

Alcohol is allowed, Tobacco is not, he just mistakenly got it in reverse no biggie.
