TORA ASCC - Round 1 Driver's Briefing Homest10

Round 1 - Homestead-Miami Speedway
Welcome to Round 1 of the American Sports Car Championship Season 2.  Our first race will see us head 4 hours south from Daytona to the beaches of Miami to the Homestead-Miami Speedway.  While normally associated with NASCAR series, Homestead has hosted series such as IndyCar, FIA GT Series, Grand-Am, and most recently Trans-Am.  When the circuit was opened in 1995, it was based on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's nearly flat layout.  However, in 2003, the track was redesigned to its current 18-20° variable banking that makes the oval much more of a challenge.  We will be using the Alternative Version of the circuit's road course, using turn 3 and 4 of the oval.

Qualifying - Qualifying will take place 1-hour prior to race start time (2:00 pm EST/7:00 pm GMT).  Drivers will have 15 minutes to set their fastest, clean lap. Remember that drivers should be/appear online 15 minutes prior to qualifying start, and should keep in-lobby chat to a minimal.

Race - The race will be a timed race lasting 90 minutes.  The lobby will be set to 1hr 40 minutes to allow time for drivers to finish the race and collect times.  A change this year is that the race time will include the pace lap, so drivers are asked to get into their grid positions as quickly as possible.  When 90 minutes has passed, drivers will continue to race until they race the start finish line.  Drivers will then line up in finishing order (with a line for each class) in Turn 1.  Do not forget to Sign-In using the form in the Race Sign-In Form & Live Timing Thread!

Pit Stops - There will be 2 mandatory stops for GT and 3 mandatory stops for DP.

If anyone has further questions, please post them in this thread.  Good luck, and I will see you all on track.

TORA ASCC - Round 1 Driver's Briefing Empty Homestead Track Limits

Post by BigBen13x Tue 6 Feb 2018 - 4:42

The road course at Homestead can be very unforgiving.  So, we are going to expand the track limits just a little bit to make the circuit a bit wider and hopefully prevent wrecks.  On the circuit there are several blue/yellow curbing combined with a blue strip as pictured below.

You will find these curbs on places such as the entrance of Turn 1 (pictured above), and the exit of the Turn 8 hairpin (pictured below).  We will be extending the track limits out to the separation between these two parts of the curbing.  Thus, you must have at least two tires on the yellow/blue part of the curbing.  Here are some examples.

This is acceptable.

This is not acceptable.

*NOTE*: Drivers are also reminded that when coming out of the pits, they must follow the yellow line on the right side of the lane the whole way out before they can rejoin traffic.
