TORA Endurance: 24h Rennen in der Grünen Hölle - Driver's Briefing and Track Limits

Since it opened to the public in June 1927, the Nürburgring has been considered one of the most difficult racing courses in the world. Sir Jackie Stewart famously called this track "The Green Hell" after he won the 1968 German Grand Prix after fighting through a rainstorm and thick fog. The Nürburgring's history is full of possible closures, public outcry, accidents, and tragic deaths. The track length alone makes simple things like qualifying and even starting the race so much more challenging. The last time TORA has hosted this complex and demanding 24-hour race here was in 2021. This time it returns as the final TORA Endurance event on FM7. As always, we are looking forward to this race and see if all teams and drivers can conquer "The Green Hell".

Race - This is a 24-hour Endurance race. Drivers will be competing in 12 stints of two hours each. However, drivers are reminded that the stint actually only lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes. Drivers are reminded that they are to use THE STINT THREAD to assign stints to each of their drivers. You can see the stint schedule on the stint thread. Stint changes after the deadline for submitting stints and during the race, are to be posted in the respective Race Control topics. Drivers are expected to be familiar with the rules and regulations come race time, so please review them before September 27th. Drivers are also reminded that they cannot have a driver double stint between stints 6 & 7 and stints 11 & 12.  

Pit Stops - There are required numbers of pit stops for this race. All drivers will have to pit 3 times during their stint. Remember that drivers will not be permitted to drive on the track backward to the pit entrance once they pass it. If they miss the pit entrance, drivers will have to drive around the track again to get back to the pit entrance. To be absolutely clear, if you drive backward at any point, you are subject to disqualification from the entire stint. It's not worth it, don't do it.

Stint Starting Procedures - Since the Nürburgring is a long track, the starting procedure will be the same for all stints. All stints will be a single file start at 60 MPH / 97 KPH, starting as cars pass under the gantry after the Yokohama-S and before the (Valvoline-Kurve and) Ford-Kurve as shown below. Or in other words, between the chicane at the start of the lap and the following corners. Remember that drivers are not to accelerate to race pace until THEY pass the designated start point, violations of which are subject to a distance penalty.

TRACK LIMITS

Standard TORA track limits apply, always keep at least 2 tires on the tarmac. So, for simplicity, the track limits for the race will be FORZA CLEAN.
