I think there's enough talent in the field that Plato won't have it all his way, and with the new NGTC rules bringing costs down, I hope we may see some big names returning the UK over time.

Wouldn't it be great if Plato and Chevy do come out this year with a works team? Fight all the way to the end of the season, then pull out that old trick of running extra cars to take points away from other teams? Chevy turn to their WTCC team for help... and draw on Huff, Menu or even Muller?

Rob Collard has defected from Motorbase to WSR! Never saw that one coming... neither did Dave Bartrum, who's really peeved!

Apparently (I say that cos I've not seen the article), today's Autosport reports that Plato was set to enter with Volvo this year until the deal fell through this week, with Volvo deciding that they would concentrate efforts on the STCC instead.

Shame it didn't come off, apparently the deal was closer to completion than we knew.

Matt Hamilton confirms his return - http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=4502

Grid now has 13 confirmed drivers.

Including teams and drivers we know will return but have not announced line-ups, that takes us to approx 20 cars on the grid.

Updated OP.

Gordon Shedden was testing the Honda Civic at Oulton Park yesterday. Woo, and indeed, hoo! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

By my reckoning, we have 18 confirmed (or practically confirmed) cars on the grid, with another 3 likely to confirm. We also have 11 different makes of car, with 3 teams eligible for the constructors championship.

OP updated.

Oh, and a rebuilt Motorbase BMW was shook down at Oulton by none other than Steven Kane.

2010 is shaping up to be a cracking year!
