Great work Matt! What did you use to capture and edit the video?

Dazzle platinum USB which comes with Pinnicle studio HD aka 14. From Maplin. Only records standard def. I used the hd & component cable that came with my xbox. Stuck the hd red blue green in the tv, then the composite red white yellow into the dazzle. Then dazzle into the laptop via USB.

Only issue is UK TV's only run forza in colour at PAL 60. So a bit of mucking around with settings and another program is required to record in colour. Amcap and winav video capture were the Programs I installed to help.

Yup I know all about the Amcap filter fix for colour - I have a Dazzle Platinum too, which came with Studio 12, but I use Adobe Premier and After Effects these days.

Looks like you're having fun playing with the transitions anyway!!

Seriously, great work though. I know it takes an age to get these vids looking "right", but eventually you'll get into a rhythm and will be able to do it much faster. Especially when you start just capturing the shots you know you will need, rather than everything and cutting it down.

Nice job Matt. I've sent it to a couple of people 'in the biz' to see what they think. I think all it needs is a little pop up with the drivers name when the cam focusses on certain cars. It wouldn't be very easy to commentate on at the mo

lol, I'm sure you didn't because it will be slated!! I'm a newbie to all this video stuff really. This is my first full video with the dazzle n pinnacle stuff. There's so much more I wanted to capture, with instant replays, in car shots, Video within video for different views of the same action simultaneously, but the time it takes plus the file sizes I find these are limiting factors unfortunately.

Plus its already a bit to long for a website highlight, but there's just to much going on in that race. I'm buggered if I know how I'm going to make race 2 shorter!! lol

Tell you what I'd love. If someone arty or graphically gifted could create a template for TORA TV and decide on transitions, fonts, race positions styles etc that we could all download and use when creating videos it would give us all a quicker way to make them look good plus have all videos with some sort of consistency and branding that looks good all in one place together.

When I was experimenting a little while ago, I kept things fairly simple/clean. I'd do a few things differently now, with experience, but I quite liked the split-time thing which just popped up from the bottom of the screen:

Do you have any tips on capture settings with the Dazzle Aero as that's one area I'm struggling with finding good quality captures.

I can capture direct to winav with the dazzle and get much better quality vids but can't capture the sound as well with that ;O( so stuck using pinnacle to capture which I find isn't that clear on replays ;O( Any advice really appreciated.

yeah, I agree. I really wanted to do an intro video prior to the first race with an in car lap around Nur Sht with commentary then look at the drivers and stats etc with maybe an interview or two, a chat about the GT4 Cup to date, look at the standings etc, you know, the sort of BTCC / Porka cup build up you get.. But then had a reality check!! lol Would have been a cool build up though.

Thinking about it, if we chose a format and did it for 2011's premier series, with proper build up vids, then race highlight vids, we could get commentary done and then maybe have it as a real online TV series on something like OnlineRaceDriver and TOVA TV Youtube channel with free sponsorship by xbox, turn 10 etc. pipe dream stuff I know, but its the future of online racing.

Then terrestrial TV Gaming shows start running a slot for online championships ;O) Now that's really my pipe dream ;O)

I always used the default settings on Studio, but the quality was definitely higher than you have there. I'll check when I'm home to see what settings I use. Check in Studio that your audio capture settings are high quality (16-bit stereo @ 44.1kHz if I remember rightly).
