Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I was just discussing this with Magic. I will as soon as I get them. Do not use the initial settings in the game or you will immediately take it back. It has improved dramatically with a little work. Sad the game is like this for people without knowing about coming here or somewhere else for settings. I really think this game is optimized for pad users and the wheel was an afterthought. Will hold that judgment for you guys on the pad but IMO a video game should be playable when you open the box.
Just ran Catalunya GP circuit. Much more brightness, and the elevation isn't nearly as severe. On the sharp left (turn 5?) that goes downhill. It actually looks better than Forza IMO.
The tire wear is more realistic than FM3, takes some time to heat up and grip suffers until then. The debris is noticeable while racing as you can see the little rubber pellets and hear them slapping the wheel wells as you go along them. Your grip also suffers, sometimes minor and sometimes major depending on how much you pick up.
All this is based off driving an S15 with minor upgrades. It is still in D class and has a few parts to tune. Tuning is difficult as I have no idea what I'm doing. Much different than FM3 and it doesn't work in my brain. The two different systems are apples and oranges.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
To answer you narboza I really don't know if half those videos are elite mode. It is much different and more akin to what I had outside of elite. The braking points in those videos weren't hit correctly. On the few times that I have hit a corner right I have went "whoa that felt good". When I'm late the car understeers and I have to correct it. I think they were just bad drivers to be honest. Plus tuning will help, they had to be in stock cars.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Thought I would share this, BADNED posted some DLC for Shift 2.
1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint 1600 GTA Corsa
1974 BMW 3.5 CSL
1974 Ford Capri RS3100
1973 Ford Escort RS1600
1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight
2010 Koenigsegg Agera
1969 Austin Mini Cooper S
1971 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R (KPGC-10)
1974 Porsche 911 RSR
1971 Porsche 914/6 GT
1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe
As far as I know those cars are already on the disc, and EA will be charging for them once released. 1200 points I believe, not sure if it's one pack or more.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
If every car supposedly has the works upgrade, does that mean you can change the 918 Spyder into a 918 RSR?

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Video of me racing two laps in career mode after a few hours of tinkering with the wheel settings. Still having a little difficulty but it is vastly improved. I tweeted the NFS team about not finding my replay and got a response in 21 seconds. I was astounded great job by those guys. More to come tonight and tomorrow.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
So magic posted it for me because I have went all special-ed over here
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Game has been dispatched. Should be with me tomorrow or Thursday.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Alright, time to purchase something faster than an S15. I have 115 grand any suggestions? I am your guinea pig! Lets get it going
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Didn't play it but I'm leveling up as I run their lines, master corners, draft, run clean sectors and laps, etc. Also a few challenges per race for some extra stuff.
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
May I suggest something of a German bent next.....Audi? Merc? BMW?
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Just got the game and did the tutorial thing with the GT-R around Suzuka. Playing with the controller and remapped buttons, I get the distinct impression that the people who made this game have never actually played a video with a 360 controller. After those two laps, the physics don't seem that bad, but I have no idea how anyone could ever play this game with the default controller set up. Hopefully I can figure out which settings to change to make it work better. To elaborate, what my finger is doing on the control stick does not correspond AT ALL with what the steering wheel on the screen is doing, or what the car itself is doing.
Also, if I was one of the people reviewing this game, I would have turned it off and given it 0/10 after the narrator says SICK like five times.
It also keeps turning off my manual transmission, and I cannot figure out why.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
can you drive/buy/tune/paint the race cars as soon as you buy the game or do you have to race some.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I may be waaayyyyy behind the times here but..... 12 players online? Sounds more like it!
Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
It makes you do 2 practice laps and then a 2 lap race first, then tells you to buy a car, which is as far as I have gotten.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Okay narboza, those settings don't make it into that first race. Do them again afterward and they stay put. Make sure you turn on ELITE mode, I set my wheel up to mirror my Forza buttons I would suggest the same.
In advanced settings you wont need some of the things but here is what I have and it helped the speed sensitivity is big as is the steering sensivity.
Vibration 100%
Steering Deadzone 0%
Steering Sensitivity 75%
Throttle Deadzone 0% (i have 4% bc my pedal spring doesn't rebound)
Throttle Sensitivity 85%
Brake Deadzone 0%
Brake Sensitivity 70%
Clutch Deadsone 0%
Clutch Sensitivity 98%
Speed Sensitivity 100%
Steering Lock 170
On my tunes I'm running a slightly higher caster as well to help straight line

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I'm using a control pad with:
Vibration 100%
Steering Deadzone 2%
Steering Sensitivity 95%
Throttle Deadzone 1%
Throttle Sensitivity 95%
Brake Deadzone 1%
Brake Sensitivity 95%
The car will steer now in a coherent manner, but I think I'm going to have to lower the steering sensitivity because I keep over correcting. I had to bump brakes up to 95% because I could not get my wheels to lock at anything lower and it was freaking me out that no matter how hard I pulled the brake trigger, my wheels didn't lock like they do in Forza.
Also, some of the bugs that hit your windshield in this game must be the size of pterodactyls. You can also create a Grand Prix's worth of marbles after 2 laps around Laguna Seca in an Alfa Giulietta.
edit: All of the sudden, all of the video tutorials that the game insists on playing are super choppy and playing at like 3fps.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I thought of turning my sensitivity down. My brakes improved dramatically with an upgrade. Are you running in ELITE mode?
