Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Ok, I've figured out what's so weird about this game to me. You actually play as the driver controlling the car in this, whereas in Forza and GT you play as the car itself. Its kind of like Armed Assault vs Call of Duty or Halo. In the former you clearly play as person holding the gun, but in the latter two, you are essentially just a disembodied gun.
I'd imagine that if you've never played something like Forza before, Shift 2 would be very intuitive and easy to play. Just takes some adjustment coming from other games though.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
If I HAVE to use the in-car view I think I would need a steering wheel, which I can just about afford without buying food or paying bills for a week. HOWEVER, has anyone tried plugging the old sidewinder wheel USB version into the front of the xbox?

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
The controller works pretty well with super high sensitivity and steering set to lock quicker than an F1 car.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
For a wheel user i'd say 6.5 but with a patch so it freaking works it's possible to be higher, not as much as Forza but high. it needed a wheel patch yesterday, cant speak for the controller but wheel it needs a patch pretty bad. I'm still having fun with it.
Forza would be a 9 in my book. I did not expect this game to be Forza either, I am surprised and it can be a blast. Without a wheel patch I will not participate in the series announced here and I don't think anyone else would contemplate it either. Impossible to have a proper race right now (maybe it's because I just stink?).
If you buy it purchase it knowing it is flawed and needs work but has potential to be really good. You can feel it and tell it as soon as you boot up the game. I just hope they can find it.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
one thing that does worry me about this worm is that slightly mad studios will probably be closed as of now if what i,ve read is correct, will ea pay for a dedicated team to build patches for this game,i dont know how .it works

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Out of 10, with a controller, I'd give it a 7 once you completely change all of the settings. I'd give GT5 an 8 and Forza 3 a 9.5 though, so its certainly not the greatest thing ever, but its growing on me.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
bob I don't believe that to be true at all. I couldn't find where to pick up my saved replays. Was in the party with Magic thinking it may be the same as one and asked him. No clue. Used twitter and had an answer in 21 seconds. Three minutes later the lead game designer also responded to me. This would never ever happen in any other game. (they also responded quickly on earlier questions). For them to continue to have jobs they have to continue to work or no one would hire them again.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I seem to be suffering from Vettel syndrome. I have no trouble winning if I'm in the lead after the first corner, but I cannot overtake to save my life. Every time I get along side, or god forbid, ahead of, an AI car, it rams me off the road at the next corner no matter what I do.

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
I'm using:
Vibration 100%
Steering Deadzone 2%
Steering Sensitivity 95%
Throttle Deadzone 1%
Throttle Sensitivity 95%
Brake Deadzone 1%
Brake Sensitivity 95%
triggers: gas/brake
x/b: gears
a: hand brake
y: look back
left bumper: NOS
right bumper: change view
d pad does something, but I haven't figured that out yet

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
My wheel settings are getting dialed in a tad better. No info on the NFS forums worth a crap so don't bother. I looked for 45 minutes and it's all guys whining about PC crap.
It's def growing on me. I like it for what it is so far. I wouldn't recommend nixing your order if you want it but it isn't a game you absolutely have to get. Enjoy it for what it is, an arcade racer first and a sim second. If you were expecting Forza when you purchased it you can get those same hopes up on finding a million dollars in your sink when you get home. It's not the same type of game

Re: Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
Ummm, just put Forza in and ran my ISCC car. Honestly feel like I have to puke. The difference in the way the track comes at you (hope that explains it?) is bad. I am sick to my stomach.
