Yes it will be mixed classes.

If you lag out, you're out for the remainder of that stint - it'll be as if you've suffered a major mechanical problem and had to pit to change a gearbox or something - you can pick up again in the next session, but you'll be a long way down. Of course, this goes for everyone, so you're not out of the running if it happens to you, as it may happen to your opponent in the next session!
