Back to the subject of actual films.
Watched this the other day on Syfy. Absolutely horrible movie, but very entertaining.

Re: The Film Thread
Watched a couple of films from Zune over the last couple of days.
Stormhouse. - Great concept, terrible film, best to avoid it.
The Divide - Brilliant film. Some parts get a touch disturbing, so not one for the kids, but overall a great watch.

Hollywood director Tony Scott, famous for films including Top Gun, has died after jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles, authorities have said.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office said Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide.
British-born Scott, brother of Alien director Ridley, shot to fame in the 1980s with a string of action films.
The 68-year-old's blockbuster hits included Crimson Tide, Days of Thunder and Beverly Hills Cop II.
The coroner said Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which spans San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles.
Lt Joe Bale, from the coroner's office, said the director was seen parking his car and jumping into the water at about 12:30 (19:30 GMT) on Sunday.
His body was recovered from the harbour less than three hours later.
"We will go where the facts take us. We have no reason to believe it was not a suicide," Lt Bale told the BBC.
Fellow director Ron Howard said on Twitter: "No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day."
Duncan Jones, director of Source Code and Moon, said: "Just heard about Tony Scott news. Horrible... Tony was a truly lovely man who took me under his wing & ignited my passion to make films."
Scott, born in Northumberland, was famous for his fast-paced blockbusters, and carved out a distinctive style to his films using fast editing and digital effects.
He made a number of films with actor Denzel Washington, including Man on Fire and most recently Unstoppable. More recently, he had been producing for television as well as films.
At the time of his death, he was rumoured to be working with Tom Cruise on a sequel to Top Gun."

Re: The Film Thread
Somehow, I've "noticed" this movie on a trailer website I often look at without actually being interested enough to watch the trailer, until this morning. Now this is definitely on my "must see" list!!
Re: The Film Thread
Watched half on snow white and the hunts man, other half to watch 2night wow very impressed
Re: The Film Thread
Did the orange wednesdays thing with a few mates last night. Went to see Dredd.
And boy, I was pleasently surprised by it. Super gory, super violent, super slo mo, super chin, awesome fun. No real complexity to the plot, but some really brilliant action scenes. All the big blockbuster action films these days have those sorts of action scenes where you don't really know whats going on, but this was brilliant. Great soundtrack too.
Quite a good bit of dry humour and plenty of slow motion gore, with a few wee twists thrown in.

Re: The Film Thread
bit of a old one but just watched cabin in the woods , no A+ movie but worth the watch if your bored.
Re: The Film Thread
I've been to the cinema quite a lot recently (an abundance of 2 for 1 vouchers), and me and my girlfriend have seen: Total Recall, The Sweeny, and my personal favourite, Lawless.
They are all very good films, even though they all didn't get amazing reviews by the critics (they chat a bunch of bull anyway) they are definitely worth a watch.

Re: The Film Thread
Anyone seen Skyfall yet?
Bloody good Bond film. The ending scene felt awfully 'familiar' which was really cool.. (trying hard not to give anything away, but that should be vague enough).
BOND WILL RETURN.

Re: The Film Thread
Aww you beat me to it. Looks potentially good, though some very odd choices going on in many departments (costume; don't like the "gauntlets" on the suit, casting; Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill..., music; Hans Zimmer for music....really?!). I'll reserve judgement, but some flashy effects don't a great film make (the best part of Superman Returns is the shuttle/plane incident, and that film was distinctly average other than that!!).
Re: The Film Thread
Hanz Zimmer appears to be the modern day John Williams, seems to be doing a lot of Superhero films though...

Re: The Film Thread
Ugh that statement may be true in terms of how prolific he is at the moment, but stylistically he's miles from Williams.
If I were directing a Superman film, I'd be looking at Michael Giacchino to score. He's the top orchestral film score composer at the moment in my book (i.e. fully orchestral, no added electronic instruments/effects/OTT bass and drums).
Stylistically, Zimmer is so wrong for Superman. It's like asking Pantera to write a song for Children in Need.

Re: The Film Thread
I should have said about the difference in style :-S...
Hans Zimmer also did the Going for Gold theme if that helps any, the only thing I know taht soudns TOTALLY different to anything else he's done...

Re: The Film Thread
How about Cool Runnings?!
I think the thing that worries me is that Zimmer is all bombast, and Superman should be more.....majestic.
