TORA GT S9 - General Discussion

Without stoking the fire too much. If someone chooses not tbuy the Porsche pack 'out of principle' that is of course their decision and fair enough. But as a sports car and GT series we cannot make decisions on carlists based on the absolute minority.
We have tried to cater for everyone in terms of the series we provide and the cars entered on those lists. We test them extensively to ensure they are as equal as possible and provide everyone with a fair chance of success.
While I understand some people feel hard done by for decisions made by the developers and other parties regarding the inclusion of certain manufacturers we cannot simply exclude a major player in the spors car racing market simply because the DLC for them is different to any of the rest.
Porsche will be in our series, and I'd imagine there are VERY few if any other organisers out there who won't be including them in their plans.

Why should I not be not able to run a porka just because one or two people don't want to buy the pack....

Alot of people have been waiting for this pack for months and are all excited to race the new cars!

Well don't shoot the people who voiced there concerns beforehand when on lap 8 theres a huge pile up or a driver gets taken out by a Bora when there no were near it. The porsches are like tanks with a futuristic force field.

Also people shouldnt be penalized by not having the pack. Reasons being:

A) Only 4 or 5 are actually new cars
B) They don't like Porsche
C) Don't have time to run even more TORA championships to win a pack due to having to work in life.
D) To many glitches in the pack for 1600msp. Can be anything to painting or backfire that comes out of the rear left tire rather than the twin exhaust fitted on the back.

Would you just call it a racing incident if there is a pile up and the Porsche wins every race by 2000ft because of turn10 failure to release a sample car?

It needs to be looked at realistically as people won't wanna turn up or enter if theres a big chance that one car could ruin there evening every race when there is plenty more to choose from. Hopefully Turn10 get there ass in gear and release a sample car at least that way all worries are gone.

If there are big issues with the cars i would stage a test session and see whats what.

We at CQR did last night. I was in a Porsche CQR Daniel was in a Jag first corner he is 80 ft behind catches under braking to 20ft then he is spinning around why I haven't felt even the slightest tap on the rear end and Dan said at least 2 car lengths were between us. Again a different race I was in the Porsche, I think it was Magic behind me this time braked left a gap on both of our screens but still receives front aero damage. Had similar issues with the SLS, Audi R8 and the Lambo.

I am sorry, but we cannot exclude Porsche in our series simply due to 2-3 people not buying the pack out of "principle", leaving 10 people out of using one of their favourite cars, and many more loving to see them included.

The Le Mans race only takes up a few hours over one day for a chance to win it for free, if that still doesn't persuade, then those very small numbers who didn't, and won't get the pack should have the courtesey for their fellow competitors to learn where their "safe-zone" is to the Bora.

If high quality teams can spend hours fine tuning their cars for victory, they could also spend 5-10 minutes finding where they are safe on the track to avoid such "pile-ups".

We have, the Porsche was racing at Indianapolis and Silverstone last saturday, and Le Mans this Saturday, and no such problems so far.

To be honest, I think we will be using them I'm in our championships regardless of 'lag' issues. Why should people who have got the pack be penalised by a few people that don't?

I'm sure T10 will sort the issue and bring out a car that people get for free to see this pack, could even be fixed today. If not.....my suggestion would be buy the pack?

I give up, your failing to see something which is as clear as it can be. There is no safe zone around a black Bora, it is inconsistent to say the least. I really hope you start to see this issue once you have got passed the fact you paid for the pack and want to race. It gives an advantage out to people who have the pack and are driving a Porsche which when you run a sponsored tournament there should be no advantage to any driver or car.

It is not lag to clear up that issue. Do some research on fm.net you will see it all over there. We race every type of car all week we no when something is lag and when something is poor programming. This has been existing with dlc since fm3 which was the reason they gave out a free car but turn10 have even screwed that up.

Many thanks Chris, note has been taken. As stated, so far we at TORA have not had any issues with anyone racing against Porsches so we hope its not made to become an issue. Thanks for the concern, but I think we'll move on.

I didn't get the pack straight away and was racing lobbies full of Bora's for days and to be honest didn't come up against the problems that have been mentioned. You just have to give the Bora a little extra room to allow for the length and width of the Porsche being driven. I'm not the biggest Porsche fanboy to say the least (always been in the Ferrari camp personally) but you have to include them in this series as they are synonymous with GT racing and to be without them would be to the detriment of the series.

But yeah, i can't say as i've always had the Porsche pack when i've been online. If they are available, really you've got to use them for the GT...

As for the cost though, it may seem like a lot of money for a few cars, but how much do we spend if we go to the cinema with the missus, the pub for a few drinks or a meal etc etc in just a few hours? In the grand scheme of things it's not really too much...

CQR Chris is right that there is an issue with the Porsche for people who don't have the DLC, but I don't think there's a solution really, can't not include Porsches in a GT series just because Turn 10 screwed up with the DLC. Just to clarify, it's only a problem for people who DON'T have the DLC, the VW Bora that the game substitutes is a different sized car and it makes it quite easy to hit or be hit by a car that appears to be far enough away. Bizarrely, it seems to affect the player WITHOUT the DLC much more than the player with the Porsche, almost like the other car 'bounces' off the Porsche, so rather than just having a little scrape or contact, the player without the DLC finds their car violently bounce off it. There's a big old 23 page thread on fm.net with pictures of the differences in car sizes etc (http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/permalink/5465687/5454257/ShowThread.aspx#5454257). It's always been an issue with Forza DLC, but was easily solved in the past by downloading the sample car, but for some unknown Turn 10 haven't done the same for this pack!

Anyway, I think it's more than we just need to be aware that there is an issue, so more care is required when racing against a Porsche/Bora, and the stewards need to be mindful of the issue when looking at any crashes or incidents that may occur. BTW, did CQR just let it slip that we're entering the GT Series LOL

Well i looked at the post, the pics tell the story. unfortunately, i haven't experienced this since i did download the pack. But even on the forum it was a conisisent "be cautious and know the distance, until turn 10 fixes it" so from the eyes of the community, not many at all were saying to exclude porsche from the lobbies until its fixed. simply put from everyone in here, they are a need for the series and those with out have to carefull till turn 10 fixes it. It did get a bit heated in here and im glad everyone calmed down, besides **** the porsches, i got my ZR1 GT .... btw PI 756 w/ race brakes sounds about right hehe

Agreed, just something people need to be aware of really, shame they didn't make the Porsche pack a mandatory title update (like Battlefield do with their DLC), that way everyone could at least see the cars!

yep, lets hope turn 10 fixes it soon. but in the mean time how about that vette. they got the sound right and so far the paint mode is workable for the most part, still can't do much with the carbon fiber.... but the in car view, wow, the car comes with a rear view monitor screen in the dash... sweeeeet!!! definitely a car to be reckoned with on the track

I agree Magic, the best way T10 could deal with DLC is make users install the one free car as a mandatory update when the new DLC comes out. That would mean everyone would have the packs installed and people wouldn't 'forget' to get the car they need. I do find it very strange that T10 didn't include a free basic Porsche, but it might be because EA wouldn't let them use the license for free at all, so this was all that they could do.

I have a feeling that theres been no free car in the Porsche or so far this months pack aswell because the top gear pack was free for season pass holders if they got the free car. The vette will have same issue as Porsche but that's a lot longer lol.

It is strange how they've changed it - the free car was always a backdoor way of allowing everyone to see the DLC cars without buying them. But seems the June Pack has no free car either, so yes, it could well be something to do with the glitch with the May pack where Season Pass holders could get the whole pack for free by downloading just the sample car...

I know someone who is going to be very, very happy. Also look forward to competiting against the CQR guys. Should be great fun and a challenge.

Maybe once E3 is over they will be able to sort this stuff out properly, I hope.
