Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Agreed. I also think that there should be an agreed stand in lobby host if your host lags out. So I took over last night with Adrian lagging out but it caused confusion amongst the guys at first. If you agreed who would take over in the event of a lag out at the start it would alleviate that.

Might be worth confirming lobby hosts etc on that one, because I'm pretty much 80% going to Britcar that weekend too

Not to worry Chris, this is old news and the calendar has been amended

I bought this up with Aero a few weeks back. Stonewall was hosting a ISCC race and lagged out so I took over running the lobby halfway though the race. I can be a stand in host if the normal hosts or race marshals cant make it or lag out.
There should be a green host in every lobby and say a blue host (on live timing), who is the agreed back up should anything happen.

BG Beanz wrote:I think all race hosts need to get together and go over the rules regarding starting procedures, as well as all aspects of restarts and the like, as from what i'm hearing, in Lobby B for example, the start of both races was started upon the lead car going on the exit of the last corner.
Race 1 in Lobby B was called out of the first corner as everyone was all together. Once that had been OK'd, poleman called it and went out of the final corner. Race 2 was also similar.
BG Beanz also wrote:There seems to be no consistency throughout the lobbies regarding restart procedures as some lobbies nothing has been said (correct), and in others 3-2-1 has been announced (incorrect).
People weren't aware of the rules on calling. The problem that Lobby B had was that I was the guy in last and was pushing as hard as I could to get back, but by the time I was coming out of the last corner that's when people put the brake on and treated the start/finish line like they were trying to stop before an invisible wall. In actual fact we should have gone round another lap (which we done in the end anyway).
One thing we're never going to be able to solve is that no-one is a race director and everyone is pushing for victory. When there's no definitive call on what's happening (ie calling a safety car, saying when the safety car is going into the pits), we have to rely on common sense.
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Does anyone have the replay for race 2, lobby D from the Nurburgring please? If there is one already on the storefront, I'll try and search for it now.

Mate we just didn't do it all correctly according to the rules... Starts and restarts were all done incorrectly. That's not to say they didn't work, they just weren't done according to the rule book...
CMGraphix wrote:The procedure is, and has always been 80mph lap 1, to the slow to 40mph before the last corner as everyone forms into 2 x 2 formation, and when the person in last says he is in place on the start line, the lead driver says the words...
"3...2...1...GO!", and nothing else.
This is highlighted on the intro guide video posted in the original post of every meeting thus far.
I'd have thought people actually watched it?
After re watching the video, we should never have called a safety car for the first accident as no one was severely compromised by the hit and all that happened was it bunched us all up again, no one involved in the accident called for the safety car and no one involved even got spun round. We just need all lobby's to be run in a consistent way. I'm not having a pop at you, I just would like it done correctly from now on.
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
ps. I'm starting to love the racing so please don't take my comments to heart, just trying to point out things that a little consistency would make the whole experience even better, keep up the good work folks.
Love you bye.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
I think that if you can't follow Safety Car procedures (y'know, the thing that they've had the video for on the sign-in page of the whole series so far ) that a stewards inquiry should be automatically placed against you and action should be taken.
No need to penalize people who get involved in racing incidents because some people can't follow the rules

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
The last place driver should be the one calling the start of the race so there isn't any jumping of the start (happens pretty much every time).
Also...from past experience...DRIVERS READY (unknown pause delay)...GO GO GO!!! works a shat ton better than 3-2-1-GO. People constantly jump starts trying to time the caller and a lot of the time 3-2-1 isn't heard completely.
DRIVERS READY.....GO GO GO!!! Is a very simple fix

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
OK, but then what if the person shouting GO GO GO, some at the front have a connection block which doesn't allow them to hear the first 2 GOs, then everyone is bunched up at turn 1 for another safety car. If people cannot hear 321, what makes you think they'll hear GO GO GO?
Surely just say 3,2,1 louder. Whatever, the fact people are nose to tail and its the whole lobby. Thats it, maybe also people will drive with a bit more caution.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Bear in mind that people wont hear the 3..2..1 at the same time.
If the caller is in a different continent from some of the other drivers, some wont hear the 1, until a half second or so after its said, that is also part of the reason the starts are ragged

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
The "No more than 80mph" on the parade lap has to be enforced more as well so we can get formed up quicker, people have started to go almost race pace around the first 3/4 of it.

Dunno if this is a good idea or bad but... example: if you where just going onto the start straight and everyone was all bunched up and ready, say the time was at 1:50:000 - you could just say everyone go on 2:00:000
Just something i came up with don't know if it would work though.

True, the only way we all know to go at the same time is by the clock. And it would be easy to catch out jump starts via the replay.BG Crunk wrote:Dunno if this is a good idea or bad but... example: if you where just going onto the start straight and everyone was all bunched up and ready, say the time was at 1:50:000 - you could just say everyone go on 2:00:000

Now that's an idea I like!! Rolling starts could become this very soon... watch this space
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
I'm not sure this will work - I have noticed when counting down the end of a Le Mans stint that people disagreed with the time I was giving....
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
I don't want to start a whole debate about this as this is nothing more than a simple enquiry but I was wondering what the purpose of a rolling start is at all?
If it is intended as a way to equalise the performance of FWD & RWD cars off the line then I would say fair enough, but if it is employed as a measure to prevent 1st corner accidents etc then I would question the validity of such a method.
I see no evidence that rolling starts are a safer way to begin a race, in fact I would say that we see evidence to the contrary.
