CQR MAGiC wrote:What the video doesn't show is I lost momentum in the previous corner adjusting my car to avoid his car coming back onto the track, that's impeding another car which is explicitly prohibited by the rules. I drive to the rules, if I go off track I'll stay wide until its safe to rejoin not try to 'get away' with it by crowding or impeding other competitors who have kept their cars on the track. Nordschliefe is a fast, narrow and dangerous circuit and that sort of driving is unacceptable in my opinion.
I understand your frustration Magic but it's doesn't appear to be as black and white as you think...Franchitti's momentum and turning brought him back on track...he was right to keep racing as all of you should have had no problem adjusting to what happened. I can't even count how many times I had to lift for other people in front of me or on the side of me to avoid a high speed corner wreck. At one point I was on the inside and gave up a position to Rusty on the long uphill straight to avoid a potential race ending wreck. That probably also has a lot to do with me almost never getting in any infractions and placing lower than I likely could. It's all in racing man...you really should have known Franchitti was there and not taken a hotlap line exit. He's trying to win just like you and everyone else. I don't see his going off then back on in this instance breaking any rules. He still had momentum and you both were balls deep in racing.

LOL...watch the first race replay from my hood with telemetry on and you will see me lifting countless times to avoid contact and to avoid dumb passing moments.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
If Mark had gone straight into the back of Franchitti, then this discussion wouldn't be happening. Because it would be an unsafe rejoin onto the track.

Except why would he go straight into the back of him? You did see the video yes. This is RACING, not HOTLAPPING. You have to adhere to other drivers.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Really...enough with the off the track nonsense...he was off track for literally a second and shouldn't have had a damn thing to do with the outcome of this collision.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
I'm saying Mark may not have been as quick to react to situation. But he did, went off the racing line to avoid hitting the back of him and had the inside for the corner.
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
with the rejoin he was lucky not to fly into the back of him........... luckily he moved of the line instead of it but now people are making a big deal of it.BloodYCaiN wrote:CQR Shifty wrote:If Mark had gone straight into the back of Franchitti, then this discussion wouldn't be happening. Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
In this case i feel Chaddy should be cut some slack. Although by ruling it does say you cannot rejoin the track in an unsafe manner, the way i see if, even though he did technically leave the track, the speed he held and the distance between the two cars meant there was ample room and not a great closing speed therefore not equating to being unsafe.CQR Shifty wrote:If Mark had gone straight into the back of Franchitti, then this discussion wouldn't be happening. The rest though is, as they say, history. Neither car wanted to yield and situations like this normally end up like that...

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
"If a competitor leaves the track at any time, it is advised that extra caution is taken not to impede other drivers when rejoining, please check and look before rejoining the track. Common courtesy stipulates that a driver in a dangerous position on the circuit should alert oncoming drivers of their position to avoid additional incidents, (essentially the yellow flag rules.)"
If rules were followed correctly, Franchitti wouldn't have been 'hit' if he was adhering to rules and leaving an amicable amount of room for other competitors if he had originally left the track.
Fair enough if you're fighting for a top five position you don't want to lose that much ground. But if you leave the track you have to respect the other competitors around you and leave room for them to move around you.

But don't you think at that moment he should have known to go into the right a little slower to keep room for Franchitti on the exit?

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Completely disagree Bloodycain, using momentum gained while OFF TRACK to maintain or regain a position is illegal, its the same as cutting a chicane. Without the momentum gained by going wide and not safely rejoining Franchittis car would never have even be alongside. And as Beanz points out, I didn't use all the road on the exit, and contrary to what Franchitti stated I did brake for the corner even though I had no need to - last thing I want to do is get in an accident, I'm still fighting for the championship, which is why people driving off track and thinking its OK infuriates me. I guess people watch things like the BTCC and think that kind of driving is acceptable, personally I aspire somewhat higher. Anyway that's my final word on the matter, if your still not happy submit an SI.

Everyone had room...clear to see in the video. The infraction was later on when they both entered the right-hander neck and neck without adhering to the other driver.
THis is as clear as glass...IT"S RACING!!!!

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Summed up from two moves in this video.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/14268091
Chaddy tried to do what Lewis did at 1:14
Mark did (kind of) what Lewis did to Webber at 1:05
I personally wouldn't have done anything different from what either of these two did...

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
thank you all sorry a SI is open so we don't want the stewards Inquiries to be hindered thanks all though really shows how different drivers have different opinions
Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
Let's be fair, I don't think the track should have been on the calender because it's so different from the others on the list in terms of space on the track and distance, laps etc.
It's not as if we have had other big tracks such as Le Mans on the calender, I don't know maybe I'm just saying we shouldn't have run it because I'm [Censored] at it

LOL...no way man...best track on the planet. It would have served the site better to just be one longer race and no reverse grid. I loved it either way. Was fun trying to sprint to the finish in race two knowing TPR BOX was closing. I drove my asses off in those races.

Re: TORA GT S9 - General Discussion
LOL. i'm really bummed that its not on the calendar for next season
I want redemption for lagging out in both qualy lobbies and then having to race in D lobby with an A lobby car. Race 2 from lobby D is on my SF and it shows a clean 7:38.91 on lap 2 which would have put me A10
