Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
not sure if its the right technical term, but the party chat put more pressure on connections, if that makes sense?

Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
Yeah, it basically has to deal with x amount of people in a lobby and then x amount of people in a party chat at the same time. If we are all in a lobby then it only has to do one thing, as chat is just muted when you are in a party.

The Interwebs wrote:Definition: The term bandwidth has a number of technical meanings but since the popularization of the Internet, it has generally referred to the volume of information per unit of time that a transmission medium (like an Internet connection) can handle.
Here's a quick analogy: Data is to available bandwidth as water is to the size of the pipe. In other words, as the bandwidth increases, so does the amount of data that can flow through in a given amount of time, just like as the size of the pipe increases, so does the amount of water that can flow through during a period of time.
An Internet connection with a larger bandwidth can move a set amount of data (say, a video file) much faster than an Internet connection with a lower bandwidth. You can test your bandwidth availability for free using tools available at Internet speed test sites.
Examples:
"My Internet Service Provider said that the maximum upload/download bandwidth of my cable Internet connection should be around 4 Mbps / 30 Mbps."

Sorry to bring this up on such short notice, but the SCAR team will have to withdraw from the race. Sorry guys but some things have happend that we really have no control over and we just can't make it. Sorry once again, but you better believe that the next race we'll be going all in!
Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
Ok cool,
Does anyone want to have 1 last practice session before race start in 3 n 3/4 hrs? I'll be setting up a lobby in a sec so message me online and I'll invite you, I'm just downloading something and it's halfway, so once that's done I'll invite anyone who's interested

So we're not talking about radios then...BG Beanz wrote:GRT 458Italia wrote:Bandwidth? The Interwebs wrote:Definition: The term bandwidth has a number of technical meanings but since the popularization of the Internet, it has generally referred to the volume of information per unit of time that a transmission medium (like an Internet connection) can handle.

Chaddy, unless there's a catastrophe and we need to re-jig a host for B lobby, M&M Racing will be hosting the lobby you're in.
Re: TORA 24 Hours of Le Mans - General Discussion
From race preparation:
> The lobby host will then ask for your current distance that you have travelled.
I hope it is ok to report the distance in km not in miles. I use metric settings and actually don't want to change this.

Please be absolutely clear to your host that your figure is in KM then, as we will need to convert it to miles. It would be simpler for us if you could change it in this instance, but I understand if you are using your speedo often and used to seeing km/h.
