TORA MSA World GT Championship Round 2:
Catalunya - Spain
Virtual Aston Martin enjoyed mixed fortunes under the Spanish sun as the teams arrived for
round 2 of the GT World Championship.
Once again Cyber Racing's Daniel Grain lead the way for the manufacturer, posting
ninth place in qualifying for a grid where the top 15 were covered by just one second.
In the Sprint format, two races follow qualifying and Grain fought back from the rolling start
to finish 7th after a race long battle with the Ferraris and Audis around him. A fantastic result
at a track that did not play to the car's strengths. The second race saw further improvements
and a sixth place finish secured 4th in the championship.
With Louis Satterlee on duty at the Daytona 24hrs the remaining two Cyber Racing DBR9's of
Rose and Siddall had a slightly more difficult event deep in the pack and the associated close racing.
Bests of 20th and 50th may not sound impressive but when one considers the 122 car entry list
it puts the impressive performances into perspective.
In the blue and white corner, three Beechdean Motorsport DBR9s took to the track as Hunter was sidelined with
illness.
The threesome of Wilson, Ford and Maughan took the Aston Martin by the scruff and grabbed bests of 45th,
84th and 73rd. Once again, all three drivers felt the cars cornering strengths were negated by the long pit
straight and restrictors fitted to the car for balancing purposes. All drivers relished the challenges and
brought the fight to the raft of works entries around them.
The weekend proved to be one of confidence building as both teams aimed to enhance their positions in
the Championships. This certainly seems to have been the result after a tough weekend for the British teams.
Hopes are high that the next rounds at Suzuka will play into the hands of the DBR9 as it brings out the strong
handling charactaristics of the car.

Sent you an Aston tune and replay (lap 3) over Mourne, if you could pass it on to your team mates that would be great thanks
