race 1 as is but 30 mins
race 2 with a parade lap to set the (reverse/race 1/random what ever order!) grid, then 50 mins with mandatory pitstop!

Koenigsegg R wrote:But the Porsche and Ferrari are not supposed to have such an advantage of the line. None of these cars are supposed to do a standing start, they're not build that way. The cars having a disadvantage or an advantage is all because of the game itself. Cars like the Porsche and Ferrari will still have a good start with a rolling start, but the advantage isn't that huge anymore.HCR Mad Dog wrote:Also changing from a standing start to rolling start kind of screws anybody in a porsche or ferrari. I knew it was a standing start & I picked the ferrari because it is quick off the line. I'm sure that I am not the only one that decided to pick one of these cars because they are quick off the line
Otherwise we might as well do a standing start in the next LMP series.
I know what you're saying & I agree mate. I'm using myself as an example but I'm sure there's more than just me that thinks that it's sucks on these cars if it's changed from a standing start. I read the rules before I signed up & noticed it was a standing start this is pretty much the only reason the ferrari made it into my final selection is because I knew it would be good off the line. By changing it from standing start to rolling start you're effectively destroying the main strength of ferrari & porsche over the others. The cars are balanced over a series because each car has it's strengths & weaknesses over the course of a season, if you start putting in the rolling starts you're taking away one of the strengths from the Ferrari & Porsche because if it was a rolling start I know I would have gone for something else

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
The cars wern't even considered upon Launch when building, they were balanced on lap times, the Launch isn't actually as much of a strength as it is an Advantage.
They'll still dominate other cars on certain tracks.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
I think the issue we have here isn't the launch but the grid ordering. That should be our priority.

What iv been saying from the start but it is good to see what the community wants to see happen, we are listening and using this to improve the next race and rest of the series, It is still a prototype idea don't forget.
Keep the discussion going guys, more input the better.

Ill vote Steven's idea but with a pitstop. You should get the vote up now theres at least 3/4 different ways of doing it.

So we're punishing the driver who was already in but has now been lost because of an action the host had to take via orders.
That is what I mean, I don't want ANYONE to lose out, and this is the risk I cannot take mate.
Steven's idea is what I agree with, if that's what people want, that's what we'll do, see how the vote pans out but I think his summary is the best course of action.
Hell no...backing out if the room ALWAYS boots someone. ALWAYS. To say we wait five minutes and go without them is bogus.
The simplest way to do this is first race grid lap standing start at specific time. This is a proven system that works every time. When the race is over...reverse the grid, wait 5 minutes and hit go. Race 2 starts from 3,2,1. Doesn't get any easier, more stable or less hassle than that.
That actually works, Race 1 you set the grid in the race but rather than rolling on like ISCC, you start from grid.
Race 2 you change the settings to "Ascending" and go from the standing start just like last week's race BUT it's in an order.
Well...that gets my vote, maybe increase the laps by 2 or 3, no pit stops though.
I really think this should be the standard for a two race series. Rolling starts tho more consistent with SOME real series are more hassle than anything in Forza. Time after time it fails. Warspite is right...having a separate single lap race to set the grid messes up the points. Keep it simple.

I do think there should be a pit stop for reasons I expressed previously.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
Okay so if enough people want Pit stops and a longer second race, BUT there are others who want to keep it short and simple how about this...
Race 1 as discussed, Race 2 reverse grid, formation lap, more laps (maybe 3-4) BUT add a pit stop.
Not only does it fan out the grid, it also allows those who start at the back of race 2 to select a pitting strategy, pit early to avoid the pack, or pit later to repair any taken damage.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
Adding to the above, rather than extending one race we keep it balanced so we're not racing for longer than planned.
Race 1: 15 lap Sprint.
Race 2: 25 Lap Race WITH a Pit stop on reverse grid.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
Well.. that works for me, not sure how many voting options we'll have lol, but if we can get more people providing their views the better, it may be we will decide on whats most popular and/or what is the easiest to manage, so far what we have now is what I think is the most reliable and fairest whilst providing a good race for everyone.
Remember whatever happens, it will still be the lesser of two evils, we will never be able to satisfy everyone on a decision, as long as we can please the majority that's the best we can do, so Thank You everyone for your critisism and contributions on improving where we went wrong.

As long as it's not random grid for race 2 I'm not fussed!

I prefer a series not to have a 'dropped' round system anyways. I think having dropped rounds is a stupid idea.

Not a stupid idea as people have real lives that sometimes makes it impossible to attend a race. They shouldn't have their entire series ruined because they had a funeral or important engagement. That is the purpose for the drop round. That discussion has been beaten to death tho. I'm fine either way...just wondering as my two teammates missed the first race.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
It was discussed before and the negatives outweighed the positives, for example calender balancing and skipping round 6.
A 6 week event didn't really have much call for one even if it does go over a few months, hence why we added a sub driver still, remember this series was still TCR when it became popular so we had to make as little changes as possible but update everything accordingly to the amount of drivers we took on.
If this series runs well, and we come out of the other end successfully, if people would like a second season maybe a "US" track based version, we will consider a dropped round in an increased calender.
Right now let's just focus on what we have now and make sure it works lol.

Re: European GT championship. General discussion.
I'm supportive of dropped rounds, it gives drivers who are unlucky (lag out, first corner incident, lag bomb by another car, xbox freeze, etc) a chance at a good finish in the championship.
On the issue of starts, my vote goes towards 2 rolling starts at 80mph and a pit stop in each race except on the first and last laps.
Just my 2 cents

Pit stops will never be on the first or last lap, in any Pitlane series, trust me on that lmao.

Haha I thought not, just making sure that if pit stops were implemented that little loophole didn't slipt through the rules
