Re: Timing Board
I was doing 178mph max in the E30. And I cannot reach 200mph in the dbr9 unless we were at the old mulsanne. Best I could do before the first schicane is 191mph (189 by the 2nd schicane, i think 185 hitting the brake zone for Mulsanne Corner)
edit: Btw, that is with the default and my tune for the DBR9

Re: Timing Board
I know the Aston can reach 199mph because I tried it.
Anyway. Looking forward to racing with you Switch as usual.

Re: Timing Board
i do about 225 in my lola but thats with my motegi gearing, im hitting the limited right before i break for playstation, i can probably get to 230 its the turning thats an issue. anyone notice on the leaderboards, the porsche rs spyder is the scoreboard car for a class. not trying to start anything, just saying.

Snap, except add nearly 10 seconds on to your time. The cars fine at speed but I'm basically doing a burnout after every slow corner.
I'll be giving this a miss now...the standard of competition in GT1 is a bit too much for me.

Re: Timing Board
Im going to try to make it depending on what time my kart race ends (or it gets rained out) and i know im gonna get destroyed as soon as the porsches get to corner, and theyre just gonna stick right on my bumper on straights

There's this really cool thing they invented called Traction Control. You should try it.

Re: Timing Board
Traction Control slows you down if you have a lead foot(/finger) and you lose the back end. That's usually a sign that you've tried to take a corner too fast (on entry); something I'm quite familiar with, but once you start learning to effectively drive around that by taking better lines and being slower in/faster out, my lap times improve dramatically.

Do you use TCS?

Re: Timing Board
In most cases yes. I aim to drive in a way that doesn't activate it, but it's always there as a safety net in case I get stupid!
Re: Timing Board
Now that's a surprise to me. I always assumed that the faster drivers didn't use TCS. There's hope for the rest of us then!

Re: Timing Board
I also use the braking line. As with TCS - it's just a reminder - when you're approaching a corner and the line's on solid red, you know you're about to FAIL!

This is my big problem with TCS, faster drivers that don't need it who use it....

If I spin off/lose the back end, would that not suggest that I did need it at that moment? It'd be a bit late to say "oh maybe I should have had TCS on" at that point, so I think that having it on as a safety net, and then driving "well" so that it never actually activates unless I screw up shouldn't affect you anyway.
Oh and Crisis, you're welcome!
Re: Timing Board
Im on the same boat as you Aero. I use the 'braking only' as well as tcs in cars in the higher car classes. The only R class cars I can drive comfortably without tcs is the stock cars. The rest of the R class cars, I am slower without tcs than with it. As for production based cars, I dont have a need for it, but in the case of the GT3 finale this past sunday, I turned it on to get the extra grip I was missing in that vette around some off those corners at Silverstone. Im not the biggest fan of that track, but I hope 2c the new layout make it to fm4

Re: Timing Board
Ever since ive got Forza3 i've driven around using TCS and now im able to control the power through the car in any car and i am mostly quicker with TCS off apart from on a few tracks with a lot of slow speed corners then TCS is a maybe for me

Re: Timing Board
I dont use TCS never have in TORA never will, i setup my cars to put the power to the ground, and i use alot of throttle control. if you just squeeze on the throttle, and have a car setup for no tcs, youll be fine. if you go around slamming the throttle, youll spin. you need alot of finese to drive without tcs. i know im about 2 or 3 seconds a lap SLOWER with tcs. just a quick spring or diff change can make a car completely drivable
Re: Timing Board
in FM2, towards the end of the lifespan of that game and when i joined TORA, i had improved my tuning skills to the point where TCS was just as Aero called it, a 'safety net'. when the FM3 demo came out and found the Ferrari California gripped so well, i tried it without TCS, and it ran quicker times. thats when i turned it off (for the most part. )

Re: Timing Board
I think what ever assists make the game fun for you, you should use. I personally don't use any assists in Forza 3 even learned to use the clutch recently. It makes the game fun for me. I don't think using the assists makes you less of a driver, it just makes it more fun for you. Totally acceptable, I mean it is a game after all, right?
