I'm not sure whether you saw my 'incident' but it was definitely more than a slight knock - they'll be repairing that tyre barrier for weeks   

You are right in many ways though, the physics in iRacing are definitely more unforgiving which is why so many people get hooked..........it makes every corner of every lap a challenge

I'm glad so many of you decided to watch though and amazed I didn't crach and burn................until Race 3!!

And if your gonna have a crash ur best making it a BIG one I suppose,,lol. That grass looked very slippy indeed.

I definitely benefited from the Race 1 turn 1 incident (glad to see they don't only happen in Forza!) and managed to make it last for 2 races.

The grass was indeed slippery - the Kia struggles for grip in 2nd gear on tarmac never mind grass  

god i love this, and want the game and everything (decent computer and internet to start) to be able to race

Apologies for missing this yesterday Greg - I'm using my Fanatec CSW with BMW GT rim, I exchanged my CSR for this set-up when it went boobies up  

Funnily enough I've only just got the CSW set-up back after that started having issues...............................I love Fanatec

I think am just about to jump ship to either IRacing or Assetto Corsa(just out on Steam today). I have priced up my pc build and after am back from my trip next week am gonna start to gather all the parts needed.

Not sure full spec just but it will be quad core, 8gb ram, all the usual bits plus going for a Nvidia 6800 GTX to run the mutli monitor setup.

Am thinking of trying to use my 46" tv as the centre monitor and buy two 27" ones for the side, but unsure if i can do it yet. More internet research needed,,lol.

Once i had over is there any chance you could give me some advice on car setups/paint/getting started etc?

Try the Inside Sim Racing videos Magictap posted above. They're really helpful. Also the iRacing youtube channel has a whole index of getting started videos. There is also one on what series you can race in at certain licenses  Awesome to see more people joining!

I have been looking at the InsideSimRacing stuff a fair bit,,,,they do really produce a lot of high quality content indeed  

So far watched the "getting started" vid,,plus the ones on tuning and painting. Very informative as well as a little bit intimidating,,lol. But am sure given a little time and likely a hell of a lot of posted crying for help I will get there.

Truth be told am quite excited about starting off. I have had one go of IRacing so far on a friends setup and I does feel quite different,,but in a very good way. I fear my learning curve is about to get steep though,,lol

As soon as I get my build together I will post up here and hopefully I know a few folk from here when I head over. I will defo get my ass kicked at first but it all takes time.

What specs does your computer have? I ran a really low spec PC for a while before I got a new one. It's not as demanding as I thought.

It's a laptop but it runs other games pretty smoothly. I've got an i5 with 6GB of ram. I just don't want to spend the money for it to not work.

I can run rfactor 2 smoothly if that's any help.

If you can run on rFactor 2 on medium-low smoothly then iRacing shouldn't be a problem. You have a wheel and pedals yes?

Not currently but I will be looking at getting some if I sign up. Controllers are supported aren't they?

Controllers are supported but it's supposed to be extremely twitchy and difficult to drive with it. If you're looking for a good wheel at a low price check out the Logitech DFGT's or a G27. They're great quality and the best bang for your buck.

The G27 doesn't work with the 360 though does it? I'd prefer to have a wheel that would work with both.

Then your option is most likely the Fanatec CSR or the CSR Elite (you'd have to get it second-hand since Fanatec have stopped production of it).

The CSR wheel is what I use. I bought it for the reason of having a wheel for 360 and PC too but I never liked how the wheel felt on Xbox. It just never felt comfortable to race with but that's my personal opinion. If you can, try and save a bit more money on the Elite pedals. They're load cell which means the braking feels a lot more realistic and is easier to know what will cause locking up.
