Re: iRacing
I'm looking to get it again, but to host private leagues we have to hire the servers and that is money. Money which we don't really have unless we have a large demand for iRacing.
We have some friends who do iRacing series, I will have a word with him and see what possible races we could have. They use the basic Mazda as they don't need to be bought.

Re: iRacing
iracing totally rocks. Hardly ever span in Forza or any console game from a lead right foot. Spinning a lot on iracing!! It's soooo much more demanding and more rewarding because of this for me personally.
If you do go down the iracing route, try not to treat the licences as you would in a console game, i.e. get as high as possible as soon as possible. Stick to the slower cars and build experience and do at least one full championship. You can test any cars and tracks you own and set up private rooms with them but your license and skill levels restrict the series and cars you can race online in, and rightfully so imho.
Promos:
Half price off new members: http://www.iracing.com/half-off/
p.s., I'm using my rubbish samsung work ultrabook and it copes very well with iracing.

Re: iRacing
Oh, I forgot. I have just bought a new 1 year subscription for half price, so I am iRacing'd up to the hilt. Gonna buy the new McLaren when I'm back. I still struggle with circuit racing
Oh, and my Fanatec CSR Elite is [Censored] [Censored] on iRacing, so I'll be switching back to the Logitech. SO much for 'one wheel fits all'

Re: iRacing
I'm tempted but it is expensive and I don't have a wheel.
It looks like you only get the bare minimum for the basic membership so how much extra are additional tracks and cars?
Is it ALL spec racing too? I think the car variety in Forza is one of its strengths so to take that away it automatically lowers my interest in it.

McLaren - Purchased ;O)
I'd say, without a wheel it's not a wise investment unless you really want it. Defo don't buy it for lots of content, instead get it for the challenge of hard driving. Its not easy like forza for sure.

Re: iRacing
Yeah, and 'seasons' tend to require at least 3 different tracks from the previous season. Cause I work an odd rota I don't many tracks and tend to stick with races where I have the tracks. A race will last a week on the same track with hourly races, then the week later it'll move onto the next track for a week. You can race as many times as you want during that week on the track, and it will take your average finishing position over the week to place you in the championship.
The cars and races are spec, but some seasons require tuning of the cars to make them competitive/fast, where as some championships have locked tunes so it's all about driving. There are a few mixed races - such as LMP1 and GTE, but not like a full GT3 season or such.
I think it is very expensive which is why I didn't rush to renew my membership, so I wait for the deals. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be deals on cars or tracks. If you went for a new car and a new season (all tracks required) straight after buying a membership you'd be talking a good £40.

Re: iRacing
I've been wanting to try iRacing. Does it support multi-screens and where is the setup for it?

Re: iRacing
I assume it does, I have seen numerous Facebook posts from iRacing showing multiscreens, but having never owned such a set up I haven't investigated how to set it up.
EDIT
Yes, it supports Multiscreen

Re: iRacing
yes multi screens supported, or one massive 180 degrees curved screen with 3 super HD projects as in the TL1 I drove at Gadget Show live!!!!

Mikem, go to http://www.iracing.com/
Make sure you use the promo codes for new members: 50% off. If you want, mention my email address (magictap@live.co.uk) as the referrer and I think I get credit in game, which I could use to host lobbies ;O)

Re: iRacing
so after some time on iRacing my settings have evolved. The 270 SEN setting is no longer as even though it let me drive aggressively and catch every slide etc it wasn't proving fast and smooth in game. So now after the Fanatec FW update im running and just did a 59.2 at lime rock in the mazda:
In desktop Fanatec app settings:
Degrees 900
Damping 100
In game

900 degrees speed limit lock

I'll be hooking up my Logitech tomorrow and giving the new McLaren a go, I could try record something. Although I am shocking at circuit racing
