Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
Was going to ask the same but didn't want to take the mick.Standaman94 wrote:Out of curiosity... Why is that?
Touring cars do have splitters and other aero aids on the front.
Just find it odd that we have the option in the game so why not use it.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
we havent used them for the tcc since forza 2, kind of stuck really makes the cars closer as really should be able to set up cars to handle good with out any aero
Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
We didn't think there was any requirement for any Aero on our low class touring cars. We needed to put the rear aero on after demand and that it creates some flexibility in the tuning. We took off the massive front splitters to make the cars look and feel a lot more like the BTCC cars in real life. It also creates some aswesome racing. Don't knock it till you try it

Have tried it.
And have you seen a touring car? With air dams and huge splitters. Nothing like standard.
But rules are rules, just have to scrap hours of testing and start over.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
Haven't had the front splitter since series 3, they aren't asthetically pleasing, plus with the bumper to bumper contact seen in the TCC the rules were changed in 09 so that they weren't compulsory. Maybe it could have been clearer in the rules mainly for the newer members but most old timers already knew the front splitters weren't in the rules.

As already stated by the others, the three main reasons I dropped front splitters from the rules in 2009 are:
1) It made the cars more challenging to drive, and took focus away from tuning and back towards driving ability.
2) As Nick says, at some point during the season you will likely be involved in nose-to-tail contact in a braking zone. Better damaging a standard bumper than losing downforce from a broken splitter.
3) It gives the cars more of an S2000-type touring car look, and as this series started life as a BTCC/WTCC series, that's the look we want. Yes, some Touring Car regulations allow front splitters, like DTM and Solution F, but they aren't really touring cars, they are silhouettes. S2000 touring cars do not have front splitters in the manner of those hideous things in Forza, and I'd challenge you to find me one that does.
We've successfully run this way for 3 years and four seasons. The fact the rear Forza wing is mandatory is both for aesthetics and to equalise cars - when builds were more open in earlier seasons, people just built missile cars for fast tracks. It's not like real touring cars are stripped down and reconfigured in this manner between races, so mandating parts like the rear wing helps regulate this.
And Nick, I take on board the point that old hands would know this, but I wonder how clearer 'adjustable front aero' is 'prohibited' can be?

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
So Scott do you want some more battles, but only if I haven't slowed down a bit over the years.

As I said in previous post "the rules are the rules" and I have no problem with that.
So everyone can keep their hair on.
The racing I do in real life is full of old super touring cars, and S2000 spec cars. And quick google search will put your little challenge to bed.
Look at an Astra for example.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
Air dam, extended arches, and a splitter.
I will admit there are no canards.
Had to go back a few years for that pic didn't you.
If you look at later S2000 car it's more obvious.
My mate Del is Mullers head mechanic in the WTCC.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
It's not an adjustable splitter though. You don't get a varying degree of downforce from that. It is nothing like the plank of carbon and fins that are the Forza splitter.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
Yes, in the same way some aftermarket bumpers have aerodynamic qualities. It's not adjustable aero though.

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
The Hockenheim race is listed as 'Hockenheim Medium' so is this the national circuit?

Re: TORA TCC - General Discussion
It's going to have to be the small one, we did some testing and the Medium one is just too big for the TCC and what we want.
