I still refuse to call it either.
I call it Sears Point.

Would've thought Montoya would be in the top 10 with it being a road course. Still, he could win from 12th...

Nelson Piquet Jr won the pole for the Nationwide race at Road America, also with a new track record.
Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
Some great racing this weekend. i love Stock Cars on road courses, even if TNT doesn't know how to properly broadcast them.
Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
I missed both of the races at the weekend, unfortunately.
I always watch the racing at the Glen though.

I thought the race at the Glen was sponsored by Helluva Good Dips?

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
I wish NASCAR's rules were consistent. As it is, I think that Bernie does a fairer job of rules and enforcement than they do in NASCAR. Case in point, Kurt Busch gets a week off for being rude to a reporter, a very underfunded Carl Long gets a $1,000,000 fine for failing a prerace tech, but Austin Dillon loses a whopping 6 points for winning in an illegal car, only to bring yet another illegal car to the very next race.
As much as I love the sport of stock car racing, I detest the amount of favoritism shown by the sanctioning body.

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
i hated NASCAR's ruling after the Fall Rockingham race in 2002. Mark Martin's car was legal to start the race, but afterwards was docked points for his springs (cannot remember the official ruling). those docked points costed Mark the Championship, and 'Smoke' took home the trophy @ Homestead. something similar happened to him in '90 i think the year was when he got docked points and he lost out to Dale Sr by less than the points that were taken away...

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
Post race tech takes into consideration "normal wear and tear" of the race itself, but beyond the set perimeter, if a part is designed to deteriorate in a manner as to circumvent a rule, it is not legal. I.e., in Mark's case, the springs were built in such a manner as to lower the car over the course of a portion of the race, bypassing the minimum height rule.

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
Why can't we have a Nationwide series with the Mustang Shelby, Camaro SS and Dodge Challenger SRT?

Idk, why must these cars NOT look like their 'street' counterparts? The Stang, Challenger, and this Camaro's nose piece resembles, but the rest, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
i think the challenger is the only one that resembles its stock counter part the best. but atleast these look better than what we have been seeing for the past decade

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
maybe so, but the 'Rear' Side windows through off the looks of the car(s). make 'em smaller, and maybe they might just look like the real things....

The NASCAR version of Mustang/Camaro/Challenger remind me of Kim Kardashian...
A pretty face, but that butt is too freeken huge.
Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
Did anyone catch the nationwide race today at Indy?
Kyle Busch jumps the start but no penalty...
Near the end, after the last caution, NASCAR made a call that directly affected the outcome of the race and that driver lost out on a extra 100k. Who knows what happened? and Whats your opinion?
Me- I think Elliot should of stayed and fought it till the end. Clearly he was penalized for doing nothing wrong. It was obvious NASCAR really F***ed up, and now there is nothing they can do "fix" it. Another race ruined by NASCAR...

If Elliot Sadler would've continued, they were going to disqualify him. He had no choice but pit. I think they screwed up to.

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
ESad got screwed, but not by NASCAR. His own teammate shoved him past Keselowski on the restart... and the rule states that the leader must be the first car across the line provided he does not spin the tires or miss a shift. Kes did neither, so Sadler was busted for beating him on the start.
Kahne's car had an issue on the initial start, and that is why Kyle Busch got away with beating him.

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
i saw sam's car shoved up nose under brad's car.... but oh well. yeah i know Nascar wld of stopped scoring ESad but it nascar could of corrected themselves and scored the win instead of now a 15th with no contest of an arguement...
and i was curious why kyle got away with it

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
^update to my post, read the article on what happened. Nascar said he didn't jump the start but should of given the position back.... oh well, its in the rulebook and can't argue it but it seemed at the time elliot wasn't given that option when he got called for a black fag...

Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
As screwed up as NASCAR's rules can be, I've seen stuff even goofier.
Re: 2012 NASCAR (and other roundy roundy racing)
Today was the annual Cup race on the road course at Watkins Glen. It was a good race with an epic finish
Not giving out any spoilers, but if you do not watch NASCAR, you need to look up "Last two laps of NASCAR @ The Glen 2012" on YouTube. Some of the most exciting racing you will see anywhere all year.
