Re: Weather.
Took the TT out of the garage for the first time in a good while. Had to wash the dust and cobwebs off her, then out to blow dry it. Brought her back home and did the wheels and tires. Still runs good for an old girl. Weather was just beautiful today. Had time for a few Red Stripes, some Reggae and grillin' before the sun went down. Definitely a sign of global warming.... its February!

Re: Weather.
expecting a blizzard up here in New England starting Thursday night thru Saturday. current projections here are about 12"+ of the white stuff. Global warming my [censored] foot! just the other week, it wasn't even getting out of the Teens as the Daytime High here in Connecticut (think the warmest it got one day was 14F, dropped to 0 or below that night), and just like clockwork, the end of January-Early February, there's snow storm after snow storm. the Alberta clippers haven't left much here (last two nights only left a dusting), and now the big storm that's expected to hit coming up from texas

Re: Weather.
Maybe you guys that live up north are experiencing the beginning of the next ice age! I grew up in Erie, Pa. with the ridiculous "lake effect" snowstorms.. I remember the winters well. Dad was a interstate truck driver and I remember him being stuck on the other side of town a couple miles from the truck terminal and couldn't make it home.IRT DarthMario wrote:expecting a blizzard up here in New England starting Thursday night thru Saturday. current projections here are about 12"+ of the white stuff. Re: Weather.
Walking to the pub on Monday night, I experienced around six different seasons in quick succession.
The weather in Scotland isn't really that extreme, or all that bad, it's just weird. Last year in May, we experienced a heat wave one week (19-20 celcius) follwed by some snow the next.
The last time we had a proper winter was two years ago, with -10 to -15 here in west-central Scotland, and we were so unprepared, many politicians in the Scottish Government got the sack. Had the military rescuing people from our motorways and everything!

Re: Weather.
that's ok, I remember the stupid mayor of Toronto once did the same thing and called in the army to plow the roads and whatever...and I only recall there only being 30-35cm of snow, which isn't bad.
This morning, we got dumped on too, my morning class got cancelled (last one before midterm...ergh) and my assignment pushed back till monday. We only got 20ish cm of snow (altho it's still coming down)

Re: Weather.
Yeah, that's roughly the levels of snow we had a few years back. Haven't had anything like that since though.
My school was closed because of the weather for the first time in 70 years because of the snow!

Re: Weather.
holy crap, our national weather department is saying that parts of the NE USA will get 90cm of snow!
90cm = 3 feet
90cm = 3 feet
Re: Weather.
i'm trying to keep up with the snowfall. haven't measured it, but ive gone out there twice already to clean off my car and the surrounding area, and my porch to my apartment. I let my car run idle for about 15 while i cleaned, then turned her off and went back up to my apartment to clean off the deck/porch. going out there every 2hrs kinda lessens the blow, me thinks. it's definitely coming down though!

Re: Weather.
If this trend up north keeps up...... you all will have to move to Florida and we'll be neighbors! Global Ice Age (north of the Mason/Dixon line).IRT DarthMario wrote:i'm trying to keep up with the snowfall. haven't measured it, but ive gone out there twice already to clean off my car and the surrounding area, and my porch to my apartment. Re: Weather.
...not sure how much snow came down (living in an Apartment complex building, it'd be hard to find a spot of snow that hasn't been touched to stab it with a ruler), But there was alot!
Even screwed up this morning.
Last night on my last outing to clean off my car, the surrounding pavement, and my porch, i took my keys out of my jacket and placed them on the hooks in the kitchen. I wake up this morning to go clean (around 6am), get to my car and clean the driver door, reach for my Keys...... And nothing. Checked my other pocket for the apartment keys..... Nothing! (even--er). Locked myself out, and without my phone to boot! So i spent the time i had outside cleaning off my car, and shoveling the snow around my car. about 15 past 9, someone suggested trying a credit card (hadn't thought of that), and viola! i'm back in my apartment. I was just lucky i hadn't locked the Dead-Bolt lock as well when i went outside. Phew. grabbed my keys, finished cleaning off my car, came back upstairs, cleaned off my porch, and pretty much ended up having Breakfast For Lunch.
All and all, it's been an interesting day.

Bear in mind I live within Glasgow, which is a pretty dense and busy urban area, so snow doesn't always lie so well here. My friends who hail from the surrounding valley towns on the fringes of Greater Glasgow get quite a bit of snow every year.
