Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
So far today my best, by a nearly half a second, is the RS3 Sportback, I've squeezed a 1:36:3 out of it. If I can get into the 1:35 area I think I'll be satisfied.

Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
Running consistent low 136s. Had one lap that was a 135:8, but I ran just BARELY wide enough on turn one to trigger a dirty lap... rage. But it was so close, I'm fairly confident it's capable of a high 135 clean. I'm pretty well satisfied with my tune at this point. May not tinker with it much more unless a bunch of people start pouring in saying they're running 134s.

Yeah im sure they are, mine are at least, if they are on other circuits then people usually state what circuit that is.Demo Marksman wrote:Just to be clear, are all these times for Hockenheim National?

Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
Being horrible at Hockenheim, I am testing my stuff elsewhere. But so far my best laps in both FWD and RWD are somewhere deep in the 1:38s.
As much as I despise this version of Hockenheim, I really wish I had used it in the Miatas, just for learning purposes.

Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
I think I'm pretty well satisfied with my tune. Given everyone else is running around the same area at least, I think anything in the 136s should be competitive. As for that guy above that claimed a 134 something... if that's legit then that's incredible dude. I concede to that here and now, I don't think there's any way my RS3 is going to get in the 135s, much less that.

^ Smithy is quite capable of incomprehensible quickness, so I believe it to be true.
Worst part is he is not the only one around here with those sort of skills.

Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
looking at some of these times, i think i made the right choice.
took the '07 Type-R out to Hock Nat, and hit a 1:36.020 with a default tune. wonder what that'd be tuned?
tried comparing it to another car at Infineon, and the amount of torque steer in the same build was slower by 4 tenths. these "Turtle Shells" will need some extra Turtle Wax for the twisty tracks.

Believe high 34s are possible if you hook up the lap and dial the tune in properly, my fastest is a 1.35.492 RWD

Re: MSA TORA TCC Season 7 - Lap Times
love it when you get a car you love, one you would've done ok with last season at catalunya, then put new specs on, set a dismal 1:38 the put a tune on, and get a 39
:/

No kidding. Obviously I have a lot to learn about tuning. I know I can drive, I just am not up to par with these guys on tuning. I'm gonna have to figure something out. Soon.

Me too fender. I am normally mid lobby about 1-2 sec behind he fastest but im running near 5????? Loosing so much time due to tyre scrubbing round the corners. I have got it better but still way off pace.

I'm no tuning guru either but it's not all that matters. Having the right build on a car for a particular track can get you loads of time even with a stock tune. I think a lot of guys that find themselves 2,3,4, or 5+ seconds off the pace worry about the tune too much when practice and working on their lines is more beneficial. Places like TORA and VM can be a very humbling expeirience.

Indeed. I've been tinkering with my build some. I know the improvements are there it's just like you say, I gotta find em. I mean I shaved off half a second yesterday by simply changing where I shift, not only RPM wise but also position on the track. I'm quite confident my build is about as good as it can get for the Hock, I think I should go study some lines around the track. For the most part I've been more or less following the suggested line and I'm beginning to get the impression that that may be where I'm losing my time. It's definitely humbling, especially having been playing this game non stop for months now... you think you're on your game and then BAM. Haha. But hey, it's like playing an instrument, if you ever get to the point that you think you don't need to learn anymore, then you should quit. There's always room for improvement.
Also, above^^^ I'm right there with you on the tire scrubbing. I ran laps that were just as quick with a few FWD cars as my Audi, but torque steer just plain drives me up the WALL. I can't stand driving something that I have to feather the throttle so much, that, and I've always preferred over to under steer. It's easier with my Speed Wheel, bearable even. But due to the lack of a headphone jack (really, Microsoft? Come on) I can't use it.
