Put my dosh down for the console and fm5 and bf4 in store. Preordered the lce version of fm5 from game online soooo will be picking up the console and bf4 in store. Can't wait.
Just startingto work out how best to get money out of my current console prior to launch. Need to wait til last minute really.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Not keeping your 360 for backwards compatibility with old games? You can plug it into the HDMI in on the Xbox One and play it through your Xbox One.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
At this rate I will not be able to afford the XB1 on launch, so I might just go with buying the FM5 Tincase, and then wait a few months before opening it
Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
So, looks like I'll get the XB1 with FIFA 14 tomorrow (I like FIFA anyway), preorder regular Forza 5, Battlefield 4 & NFS Rivals. Pay off my phone contract & board then cry about how poor I am for the rest of the month.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
I don't know if this has been posted yet here, but Xbox One and Xbox 360 party chat are incompatible - Xbox One uses a Skype-based protocol that has twice the quality basically and is incompatible with 360's voice chat. So you won't be able to chat between users on different platforms, but you can send XBL text messages between users. Xbox One friends list has been increased to 1,000, if you logon to a 360 it will only a subset of that 1,000 (i.e. those that are your 360 friends too). And you can 'follow' an unlimited number of people on Xbox One, a bit like the Twitter follow system. No information on maximum party size yet, hope they increase it from 8, we could do with 16 or 24 in CQR sometimes!

I think I read somewhere that it was 32 or some stupidly high number. I think it is in this thread somewhere.

And I think people talk too much now on the parade lap!

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
I'd like to think there'd be a way of downloading compatible versions of 360 games you previously owned onto your One.
The prove of ownership is surely there in the stats etc in your profile plus the fact you may have had to put in codes to get online in those games in the first place (Yes Codies and EA I'm looking at you!!) so there's you're additional proof. Would be a nice idea

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
It's a nice idea, sadly 360 and One are totally different system architectures, so 360 games just won't run on One. There is talk of a possible way to stream 360 games from the Cloud in the future, PS4 is going to go that route eventually too, probably a long way off though!

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
I seem to remember you can plug your 360 into your ONE and play through the ONE. Clunky, but it's an option!
Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Indeed you can! In fact I'm surprised Microsoft haven't renamed the HDMI in port as a special 'Backwards Compatibility Optimisation Port'

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Apparently, every Day One edition is now sold out. And the regular launch units are depleting fast. Is it just me, or has Microsoft made a bit of a mess with this
Last month at Gamesom, Microsoft corporate VP and voice of contradiction Phil Harrison claimed that “all pre-orders for Xbox One this holiday will include a copy of FIFA 14 at no extra cost.” It turns out that Harrison either misspoke or the policy has been changed. This is starting to feel like standard operating procedure for Microsoft since the Xbox One was announced, and it’s a wee bit confusing.
The confusion began when Amazon’s U.K. site was spotted by CVG offering a standard Xbox One for launch, as well as a separate Day One edition that includes a digital copy of FIFA 14 and a commemorative controller. Surprisingly, there was also an option to purchase the Day One bundle with a free copy of Forza 5 instead, but both are listed as sold out. A third option, which is still available for pre-order, is a “Standard Edition,” which lists for the same price but does not come with the special controller or a game.
Seeking clarification, a customer named Ian asked Xbox’s Twitter feed about this. The company replied, “All pre-orders come with FIFA 14 in Europe, Ian. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Day One console or not.— Xbox .”
That seemed to put an end to the matter, but then Xbox EMEA’s social marketing manager Graeme Boyd tweeted this gem a few days later: “Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last.”
So if you are ordering an Xbox One in Europe, you may want to double check exactly which one you purchased. This development also means the people that pre-ordered before the FIFA announcement may not retroactively be included in the giveaway, as was previously suggested, depending on which versoin they ordered.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Looks like I got in just in the nick of time. Definitely left it way too late to pre-order. First experience with ShopTo, let's hope they deliver! Although, I'm a tad annoyed they don't have a 'Premium' delivery service I could pay for to make sure I get it on release. The website was very slow. Must be a lot of people on considering today is pay day for many...

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
DPD Next Business Day courier is included as standard - if they're allowed to by Microsoft, Shopto will dispatch it on Thursday 21 Nov and it will arrive on release day, 22 Nov.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Has anyone preordered the XB1 who has a capture card? I'm interested to know if they have some sort of HDCP like the Ouya.
Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
Appears Xbox One has no HDCP on games, just on movies and Blu-ray films:
"The Xbox One’s protection will, according to a tweet from Microsoft’s Social Marketing Manager Graeme Boyd via Xbox Live Operations Manager Eric Neustadter, work just like it does on the Xbox 360. This should ensure that games can be captured using devices like Elgato’s GameCapture HD, while movies and streaming video services will enable HDCP to protect video content."

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
I've got good experience with DPD before. When I ordered my computer, it came a day earlier then it was supposed to. I can't blame them if it doesn't come on release day though. I ordered too late. £900 wage has been depleted to just £250 and I've still got more games to buy It's going to be a long monthCQR MAGiC wrote:DPD Next Business Day courier is included as standard - if they're allowed to by Microsoft, Shopto will dispatch it on Thursday 21 Nov and it will arrive on release day, 22 Nov.

Re: Miscellaneous Next-Gen Gaming thread
I reckon Titanfall is going to be big on Xbox One - respected developers, mix of COD & Halo style gameplay, dedicated servers and 60fps. It could well be the next-big-thing in shooters, people who've played it seem mighty impressed even now, with another 6 months until release.
