AI is something they do so well. Even SHIFT 2 the AI completely outshines FM3's by a long way!!!

finally saw the 'Connecticut Hill' videos chris posted on the previous page.... so misleading!! calling it Connecticut, i thought it was Lime Rock Park, as soon as the car left the pits i knew it was Watkins Glen, which is in NEW YORK. does SMS not have official liscencing to name the track as it actually is??

All I can say is "BLOODY HELL!!" if this is the quality of graphics we can expect from sims of the future! Shame the handling is still apparently "very Shift 2" in CARS, but if this level of detail can come up in other sims in development, it's gonna be eye candy galore!

yep confirmed by piston heads members it the same wank handling as shift 2 but graphically looks great

You know what response they got when they criticised the handling they got kicked out of the beta.

So I guess EA did not screw up the handling on shift 2 it was the designers hahaha

No, no, no, you guys don't understand! The reason CARS feels like Shift 2 is because CARS is still extremely early on in its development process, and it runs on the Shift 2 engine! Working on these kinds of car models and what not will take time before they get round to the handling.

It's not even anywhere near alpha stage yet!

Sorry, but that argument is just wrong. Having worked for a games company I know for a fact that anyone with an ounce of sense would work on the mechanics first. Our games always started out with virtually "block models" in the early stages. There's no way they'd put so much effort into the graphics first, that's be like making a really beautiful house without checking that you're building it on firm ground, let alone putting in foundations.

The only explanation for using the Shift 2 engine if that is indeed what they've done, is if they're happy with it, or prepared to "work out the kinks", but unfortunately, that's like trying to polish a turd!

shift 2 proved pretty and immersion cant beat control and handling in a sim racing game!!!! Otherwise shift 2 would be very popular.

On the flip side, Race Pro proved graphics are just as important for a success!

If SMS could get the handling physics right on Project C.A.R.S. it has the potential to be a competition crusher - so stunning to look at. Such a shame that at the moment they seem to be being pig-headed about their handling engine, and not listening to the testers' comments/reuqests.
