Re: TORA GT General Discussion
Really confused - I want to try the GT championship but I can't work out what cars are free and what isn't. I've tried comparing the championship table with the list of cars, but there seems to be more people racing a particular car than the regs permit.
Is there a list of available cars somewhere..? Or is it possible to enter a race as a "guest" non-points scoring driver..? Thanks.

Re: TORA GT General Discussion
each car can be taken by 2 privateers and 2 teams.
I could work it out for you shortly

Re: TORA GT General Discussion
TORA has always had a general policy in the past of not having restarts unless there is some kind of technical issue. This is to try and promote sensible racing. If people know that they can barrel into turn 1 and either pull off an insane overtake, or wreck and restart, we set a precedent that the staff previously agreed we did not want. I will stand corrected if the rest of the staff want to review that position, but as was shown in the restart from the safety car last night, restarting does not guarantee a safe turn 1 on the second, third, or tenth attempt. We could end up restarting all night long.
In the real world of course, they may red flag and restart after a major pile-up, but you're still not going to be able to get your car repaired in time for the restart. If those in lobby A who dropped out because they had "too much damage" last night had continued, as I did at Road America, and many other drivers have in the past, they would have scored points for themselves and their teams for at least 13th place. As it stands, those people scored for last or virtually last overall, and then zero for race 2. Sometimes you just have to play the hand you're dealt.

Re: TORA GT General Discussion
Sometimes I don't need a lecture either.
I choose to pull out from aero damage even though I could have continued and been selfish for points but experience and common sense prevailed as i did not want to be an obstacle or potentially be another accident waiting to happen ruining others racing.
TBH, when nearly the whole field is involved, a restart (back to the lobby) has always occurred for me a TORA. This was a first in my experience.
Rules are rules. You know I accept that, but also having some degree of flexibility is a good idea, like slowing to a stop before the last corner so a driver can change a pad battery. Like restarting my 2 hour stint at Sebring as I forgot to turn on TCS. Like restarting a race when multiple cars have damage and the majority in the lobby are in favor of a restart.
Just my opinion. Nothing more.
Cheers. Matt

lol I hate it when I do that, or leaving it on in TCC
Re: TORA GT General Discussion
I'm completely open to compromise and a policy change, but I'm very wary of allowing restarts because it's open to being abused by people making turn 1 lunges that they know they can get away with if they wipe half the field out. Also, if we restart and it happens again (and again), where do we draw the line?
Re: TORA GT General Discussion
Matt staff have now decide that a race restart may occur, we have not opted for this option to be in written rules before as quite frankly the driving standards have been at such a higher standard for the past x2 years or so and such an incidents which occurred on Sunday has not happened before and took staff by surprise.

Re: TORA GT General Discussion
Thanks chaps for listening. I agree standards are raising, and should be helped along further as TORA is always striving for, but, mistakes happen, however daft they are!! ;O)

I make it a personal rule to make sure that all of my mistakes are at least "daft" if not downright "stupid"!
