Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
I've heard from others saying that its not Forza physics.
I've been linked to articles that it isn't, too.
And at the same time, everything *official* I can see says "Arcade physics with a switch that makes it ultra-realistic like past Forza titles."
As long as they make it so that an Enzo sucks on gravel while an Evo X is godly, I'll accept it as "adequately making sense."

Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
That's like FM4, then. All you have to do is put it on sim steering, and turn off the assists, and there you go, more realistic than it was.Hailfire97x wrote:And at the same time, everything *official* I can see says "Arcade physics with a switch that makes it ultra-realistic like past Forza titles."
The demos they've shown probably have got assists on. I heard on some reports that the demo at live events had cosmetic damage and traction control on to make the game look good. Otherwise, everyone would be crashing (we know game reporters are bad drivers) and the recorded demos will be full of scratched cars rather than nice shiney ones.
Anyway, it comes out in two weeks so I think everyone should just wait and see how it is. IMO, I'm getting it no matter how it turns out.
Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
So...
What I gather from that video:
+ similar FM4 physics / driving assists
+ great graphics
+ day/night cycle
+ Bonus cars based on FM4 profile
+ Vinyls can be imported in from FM4
+ Similar FM4 painting & upgrading(?) abilities
+/- racing against a plane!
- cheesy storyline / cutscenes

OK, so this guy is DEEPLY boring, BUT some very interesting info here. I particularly like the sound of "barn finds" (finding an unloved rusty classic in a barn, claiming it as your own and refurbing it back to glory).
Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
I sure hope that this is not a Horizons screenshot...
... but I do realize that there is a segment of the Forza fanbase that would think it is the coolest thing ever.

Naw... thats just part of the loop around Dallas! The loop on the Dallas loop just speeds up the local traffic to merge onto the "express" lanes.

Just got back from Gamestop..... pre-ordered Horizon Limited Edition. Getting three free cars: Ferrari 458 Italia, VW Golf R and a 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392- playable in Forza 4 or Forza Horizon. What a deal.

Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
I'm not loving it. I love Forza for real world race tracks, and know of just a couple ovals in Colorado. Drifting and rally are fine and dandy, but I'd rather see Spa and Bathurst added to FM4 over a whole game full of meh.
Re: Forza Horizon - General Discussion
Well, I think I can tell you now that it's safe to keep/go out and get your pre-orders for FH. Having played it for just under 2 hours straight this evening, I can safely say that it's not like, it is FM4 on the open road.
After turning the assists off (forced on for the initial 2 minute intro race) the familiar FM4 handling feel is there instantly. Interestingly, I noticed that the roads, being much more heavily cambered than most circuit surfaces forced me to slightly change my driving style, but the fact that the handling felt so familiar, I was able to do that easily and instantly. What was ven more interesting was, a short time into the game when I bought my first "paid for" car (you start off with a given car, then win one early on, this was the first I had to purchase to fit into a race's restrictions), for a dirt race, I first took it to the paint shop to see what the livery editor is like. Answer; the same as FM4's, with added extras (including matte paint, for both bodywork and wheels!!!). Then I took it to the upgrade shop - same again, FM4 with extras. Then out to the dirt race. Wow, I got owned!! As I said, I had all the assists off, and the AI on "Insane". Something tells me I'm gonna need to learn to race off-road!! I wasn't all over the place banging into walls or anything, just losing ground in the turns. I think I need to work on my Scandanavian Flick!! All in all, very impressed, very happy, and really looking forward to release now.
The rigs were not set up online, but I had a chance to chat with some of the developers, and we talked about multiplayer. The usual hopper things are there, with some new additions like a begginer's zone for level 0-10 drivers so they don't get intimidated by the pro drivers on their first times online. Custom lobby settings again are imported from FM4, so all the handicapping etc etc is there. Speaking of importing, you may want to start cataloguing your logos and saving your paint designs as vinyl groups, as, as with FM3 into 4, you can import vinyl groups from FM4 into FH.
If you're in the UK and able to get to Silverstone this weekend, TORA will have the UK's first public hands-on access to FH; come and give it a try yourselves (apparently it will be the E3 demo build - I just played the full finished game, sorry!!!!), or if not there, maybe you can get to the Eurogamer Expo at Earl's Court London next week, where TORA will again have hands-on access as well as holding competitions and events on FM4.
