Re: Suggestion Box
How about a "Surprise Event"...we give a date and time, and perhaps what class of car we will run.
Only we wait until the day of the race to announce the venue and car choice.
This would eliminate the complaints about those who test 24/7, and it could lead to some very intriguing results.
I would also like to do a Radical Cup as a support to the ISCC American slate!

Re: Suggestion Box
I really enjoyed the MX-5s
Regarding mini series, we need to have a good balance of high class and low class cars to cater to everybody's various tastes.

Re: Suggestion Box
Well, one idea I had for a series would be something of an "Open Club Series". Esentially, there is no entry list, no set car list, and no race schedule. This should probably go in the mini series discussion section, but, I do not have the time right now to see this through. And, seeing some of the comments in this thread I figure I will just leave this here.
The entry lists for the events are simply whoever is available to race. A post here in the forums to let eveyone know when the next race is and if there is currently anything ongoing for people to join in.
Race winners determine what the next race is going to be. They choose the car(s), the track, and the time. The cars can be anything from TORA spec, stock, unique builds, and everything in-between. Any track can be picked except the same track cannot be used twice in a row. The time of the next race must be within a week of the last race. Races can be run imediately after as long as everyone has the car(s). If no race is set for within a week of the last one, anyone is free to determine the next race.
If you win the right to pick a race, you do not get to pick again until 5 races have been completed or 1 week has passed. In the above case, if the race winner has picked one of the last 5 races, the highest finishing person that does not have to wait picks the next race.
wow, did not expcet to write that much

Re: Suggestion Box
I got 1 for a mini series, the Australian TCM (Touring Car Masters). It's pre '77 cars and there is 4 (5 if the Porsche you can use is in the pack) they are: Ford Falcon XB, Mustang Boss, Chevrolete Impala SS, and Camaro SS, I will confirm these cars after, but if people were interested, I would do some tests to try and make them even and PI n stuff, there would be no traction/stability control to add to the realism, and races would go for 10-20 minutes, that's all I've got to say, thanks guys

Re: Suggestion Box
May I suggest a couple of 3 Hour single-driver enduros sometime in the present future, as a "build up" to the Nurburgring 24 Laps.

Re: Suggestion Box
One problem that seems to plague almost every TORA race is the lobby crashes. And until this so called update gets released, we will have to continue to wait to get going. In particular, I see the TORA 12 hours of Sebring running extremely long because of this.
We seem to sidestep the problem by having the race host launch a race with nobody readied up, exiting that one man race, having everyone quickly ready up, and then launching the real race. The lobby has not crashed every time I have seen this done, but, this is only done after the lobby has already crashed once before.
Why don't we try this the first time around? While going through the rules, grid order, etc... the host can start their one man race and quit out if it. By the time we are done going through everything we could get the real race going.
Going back to some of the earlier discussions on having a multi-tiered series to split up the slower and faster drivers, one way to decide who drives in which level is by separating team owners and team drivers. Team owners choose the drivers for their team, but, the team owners themselves cannot race at the same level as the team that they own. Example: a driver in Tier 3 can own a car and choose the drivers for Tier 1; one of those drivers in Tier 1 can own a car and choose the drivers for Tier 2; and one of those drivers in Tier 2 can own a car and choose the drivers for Tier 3. People not racing can own a team in any Tier. However this idea does not allow for any privateer teams.

Re: Suggestion Box
In MSM (My other league) we have been using a tier system for over a year now to help even out the pack. It has gone through many revisions to achieve consistency and accurate tier placements, but the system that works best is to look at past race performance. An example of that would be:
Tier 1 Requirements:
2 Lobby wins
1 Series win
4 Top 5s
8 Top 10s
Tier 2 Reqs:
1 Lobby win
2 Tops 5s
4 top 10s
Tier 3:
The Rest
I just threw those numbers out there, but if race history is readily available then it seems to work almost every time.
In response to the lobby crashes, you may just have to limit lobby size to under 12, safely under 10. Once you get multiple nationalities in the same lobby things just get worse. A 16 player lobby as we know would be a disaster. I think over the 12h of Seb will be split due to the number of entries, so there may be no issues.

Re: Suggestion Box
how about an F1 style % rule.
P1 you need to be able to run within 105% of the front runners
P2 110%
GT 120%
something like that

Or you take an average calculation of the front runners -
P1 you need to be able to run within 105% of the front runners
P2 110%
LMPC 115%
GT PRO 120%
GT AM 150%

Re: Suggestion Box
It seems to be that a spec racing series' (with full suspension & chassis upgrades, paired with minor power tweaks) work the best for ultra close racing.
When the Porsche car pack comes out, maybe a Porsche Cup would be good, think it would make for some great fun with the rear-engined RWD...

Re: Suggestion Box
If a lobby is full with the correct people, start, don't wait for other lobbies to sort themselves out to. They can sort it and get going somehow, If the full lobby sits and waits, its very frustrating.
All lobby hosts should already have the settings saved.

Re: Suggestion Box
that is correct Matt however, if the person can not connect to x lobby host the y lobby host would take that person, if y is unable to connect driver z lobby host would try or we just say if you can not connect not staff down to user but we dont unless you want us to that is

Re: Suggestion Box
if x lobby is full with the correct people none of that makes any difference surely. They just go with who they have?

Driver Ratings
Ladies & Gentleman of TORA,
I prupose a driver ratings scale be introduced to our online racing community. Below you will find IMSA's (ALMS) current driver ratings form, that helps them categorize their drivers into 1 of 4 standings; Platinum(professionals), Gold (semi-pro), Silver (amateur), and Bronze (rookie). We need not have all 4, I feel 2 or 3 standings would more than suffice, and we can surely simplify the process.
IMSA Driver Rating Form
My belief is that giving these standings out will help encourage the slower, less apt to tuning, and/or time deficient members of TORA by offering a sub-championship within all of our current championships.
The beauty of developing a structure such as this, is that little to no effort need be done to implement these ratings into all of our current and future championships.
I know some will hate this idea/find it pointless...but I bet upon further review most of those who dislike it would be rated highly in as system such as the one above.

This would work if we look at all TORA history not just recent history from forza 2 this will work, I mean everychampionship race we have ever held etc
Recent history wont reflect drivers skill fro, novice to gold you will only see this from the start of there online racing carrer

Not really. There are slow drivers here, middle level and fast drivers. I suppose you could only go up if you improve?

Re: Suggestion Box
surely people are here to race, qualifying puts like speed against like speed in lobbies for the most part. With this system at TORA the only addition it would bring is more work and time just to give out another title / team & drivers champ awards but for being recognised as slower.
Personally, if I'm not winning, I don't want and don't need people to invent things for me to win.
just my 2 pennies
