Personally, if I'm not winning, I don't want and don't need people to invent things for me to win.
just my 2 pennies
I completely agree with this.
The fast guys will, and should, always be the fast guys.

And IMHO this attitude is why TORA will never be embraced by "the slow guys"...I'm not disagreeing with anything stated above, just saying that everyone needs an incentive to race with TORA. For those that cannot compete with the top tier of TORA there is absolutely nothing here to keep their allegiance with us.
My point is: the status quo at TORA is all well and good, but if you are like me and always searching for a way to improve (in our case gain and retain more new members), this is my number 1 suggestion. The amount of work this would take is being over-stated I fear.
For example I know ATR Dan is a Platinum level driver. (I only use him bc he's my teammate) I don't need him to fill anything out, it's a simple stated truth.
Re: Suggestion Box
The fast guys will be fast guys still. The lower driver have a chance of winning something with this setup. Lot more incentive to drive faster/tune better.

Re: Suggestion Box
If this happens the "slower" drivers will never win anything anyway because you will attract new members who are automatically put in the slowest class who turn out to be as fast as the top boys, thus running away with the tourny. In my opinion it works fine as it is, as due to qualifying, you are racing against people of the same level.

Re: Suggestion Box
Yes. We are put in groups from quali but what do we get out of it? A great race and a couple of points. At least a different championship for more incentive to be the best of the midfield. And no, new member won't be automatically put in the lowest group. It would be based on their speed/times.

But slower drivers don't win, the faster drivers win. It's how the sport works.
Everyone should have the same opportunities and run under the same rules. This isn't a North London school.

Re: Suggestion Box
Eaxctly, you always end up having fanstatsic battles thanks to quali etc and race with drivers at a similar level
Re: Suggestion Box
Instead of running multiple championships, what if we incorporate the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze driver levels into out current series with champoinship standings that can show how we are performing overall and against those in specific driver levels.
New people should not be automatically placed in the lowest level as it should be easy to see where they will fit by looking at the level of the drivers they normally compete with after a few races.
Determining driver level will not be an easy thing to do and it may take a long while before TORA can perfect which drivers belong in which level.
[edit]: Basically, exactly what BuckeyeBullet20 was talking about.

Re: Suggestion Box
I have always been a lower lobby driver and know that I could never win anything. I've always accepted this and every night that I turn up to race I only do it for the sheer enjoyment and pleasure of racing with everybody in this community, and knowing I'm a slower driver has never put me off from racing.
A ranking system is fine by me as long as it is all a community effort and is only used for a bit of fun, there is no way that TORA can adopt such a system and not be perceived as being biased with it. If someone want to create it on the side it's cool, but we as TORA can't use such a system.

V 1.0: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj88d7GUuvbjdE1XOVRYWklFU3BzQzBhMkdnSEdYQVE
I simply copied the TORA GT Driver Standings (the Road America race results were not yet entered when I copied this), I assigned everyone as a Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze as per info from the GT Por vs. GT Am debate (split 1st 13 P, next 13 G, next 13 S, and final 11 S), ranked drivers that were not in the debate table as per best guess, and then resorted as per rank.
Depending on feedback, I may continue to update this and dress it up a bit; OR, I may scrap it entirely.

Re: Suggestion Box
erm i suggest u use every TORA series and championship the GT's really are not the best to base this off but good work
Re: Suggestion Box
I only did the GT series so I could simply use the data from the GT Pro vs. GT Am debate and deflect any complaints about peoples initial driver level towards Simon.
Otherwise, that would be the way I would start tracking driver levels. From there I would apply the same driver level across all of the other TORA series. After that is done, it would simply be a matter of keeping an eye on things and adjusting driver levels as needed.
BUT, it appears as if I have killed any discussion on the topic as there has been very little feedback in the past 24 hours.
Moving on to a different suggestion.
Is there any way of getting our TORA race numbers next to our names on our forum posts? Something that we could include when editing our profiles and would show up under our names amongst our "Number of posts", "Location", Reputaion", and "Registration date".
Of course, we could all easily include our TORA race numbers in our signature.

Since you guys also run an phpbb forum here I'm sure that the race numbers can be added to the profiles. It is an 'custom profile field' that has to be created and then all users have to edit that field and add the race number. Here's how that looks on the nurbracer website:http://nurbracer.x10.mx/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=137
Re: Suggestion Box
Done, however ever can someone check if it's an option on their profile?
Should be the first option under Personalized Profile

Re: Suggestion Box
I love the way the racing works at present on the TCC. Qualifying sorts out lobbies really well, with the fast racing the fast and slow guys race... well, with the likes of me, NickyF1 and Chucky to name a few. The racing in the individual lobbies is always awesome and is a credit to the staff of Tora.
We could always have two TCC races - one locked to stock the other as it is now.

Re: Suggestion Box
Just a suggestion but with the upcoming GT series I think you should try to get featured on "Rear View Mirror" on forzamotorsport.net. VM has a slot on there and I think you should be as well as I think you lot do it better especially with things like full race replay with commentary on Tora TV.
