Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
ok so quick fix, this friday i will have a lobby opened, times TBD, for some V8 supercar action. Back to the topic, is TASCAR every saturday? jus wondering. And what about thursday or friday nights? Does TORA have anything planned on those days?

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
In my experience, the V8s are less twitchy and easier for me to drive than any of the other R Class cars.
As for "reward weight"... that would be hard to do in Forza as there is no true ballasts other than ugly chrome bling wheels, which are less than realistic in a racing series. However, rather than qualifying or random draws for the grid order, how about inverting the races based on series points? That way "the fast guys" are always going to have to maneuver their way to the front,

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
so do a qualifier, which sets the stage for race 1? which can inverted and the finish result of race one be the start for a race two or they be inverted once more for a race two?

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
I was thinking skip the qually, and set race 1 via inverted series points, then use results of race 1 to set the order of race 2.
Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
so then how would the grid be set for race 1 with no points?

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Easily, set up like the do in real life, qualifying for race just before and qualifying for race two before that race, then you do ur warm up lap, and the do a stationary start, as alwaysWCM Outlaw wrote:so then how would the grid be set for race 1 with no points?
Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
so do a qualifying race off a random start, then do a qualify for race 2, start the race, do a warm-up lap and then stop the cars before the line to get in order and thus have a standing start with warm tires?

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
A completely different idea, a thought so stupid it could be brilliant:
100 PI Crapcar/Chumpcar/LeMons Race.
Now that we have the Beetle, Pinto, SMART, 40 Ford and other cars close enough to be downgraded to 100 PI, how about some uber-low tech fun racing? There are enough small/twisty circuits in the game, most of which would be too tight and/or slow for real TORA races.

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
pretty much, yea, thats how they do it in the real thing... love it, i prefer stationary starts becuase its all about reaction time, rolling starts are two, but if u miss the start by a tiny bit then ur already moving, so it doesnt really matter as much, and the starts on forza dont count cos u cant take off until the start actually happens, so warm up lap and stationary start after qualifyingWCM Outlaw wrote:so do a qualifying race off a random start, then do a qualify for race 2, start the race, do a warm-up lap and then stop the cars before the line to get in order and thus have a standing start with warm tires?
Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Historic rallying anyone? Here's what I propose:
Two classes, everyone is encouraged to enter both:
Pre-1990 2WD - Escort, 131, Sierra, 911, Stratos, 037.. Anything you can imagine. No less than 2,100lbs and no more than 349hp. Street tyres only!
Pre-2000 4WD - 22B, Evo 6, Celica, Delta, Focus, Escort Cosworth.. Anything you can come up with, same weight and power rules apply. Sport tyres only!
We'll meet at Kaido, bring your cars in supreme condition with period replicas, and we'll blast around the mountain, two timed runs per class, Kaido full - regular and reverse, results aggregated. Then, if anyone is up for it, we'll do it again at the Nurburgring for a circuit Time Trial around the Nordschleife.

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Just a thought of where to place a new mini series...
Having looked at the schedule, it seems to me that a compromise that would allow for more racers from Europe and America to compete against each other, while not interfering with the TORA GT/ISCC, would be Saturday Nights, Midnight BST, 7PM Eastern US, 4 PM Pacific US.
Not quite as late as the US series, yet on a weekend so staying up til 1:30 wouldn't be out of the question.

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Some sort of A1GP/Superleague type thing, but based on proximity to cities (or by counties, regions or states) rather than countries, with drivers taking it in turns to race each week?
Say for example.. For the UK:
Greater Glasgow and Ayrshire
North and East Scotland (Area around Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness)
West Midlands (Area around Birmingham)
North East England
South West England (Bristol and the west country)
Merseyside (Area around Liverpool)
Greater London
Greater Manchester
Wales
Ireland (NI and Eire)

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Just an idea, not a mini series, but a one off race, in September, it's the 50th running of the Bathurst 1000, and seeing turn 10 won't give us Bathurst, cos 'it costs a lot n takes heaps of time', we could use Laguna Seca instead? Running 278 laps (know its quite a bit but small track) and of cause run the V8's, stock (with 3rd party wheels).
I'll do some testing as see whether it'd be worth having teams of two, or driving single, (same set up for TEC) so do 50 laps change over or do another 50, but driver 1 can only do a max of 60% total race distance (167 laps: 3 stints approx.) there would be 5 50 lap stints (49 laps of racing and 1 wamr up/grid ordering lap for each stint) and 1 33 lap stint to finish off (32 laps of racing and 1 warm up/grid ordering lap at begining).
I will do more Maths and timing for length and fuel consumption, tyre wear and pit stops etc. because we still have a while for the event if it happens and I hope it gets interest cos it would be fun.
I was going to do this last as Duke of Bruno might rememberas we did a few enduros with the forza community back in FM3 and i chatted about doing this, but it was too late to organise it. if it does go ahead, im thinking maybe the week after or before the actual race if there's nothing on, but i will organise that as it gets closer.
i hope people would like to run it as i have actually never been in a V8's race with a heap of people before, only the AI, and i smash them easy so im looking for a bit of competition. so yea, thats it, if people are interested i'll keep testing everything and see what happens, if you are nterested and have any ideas on how to make it better, don't be afraid to give us a shout
cheers guys

I always thought that Maple Valley Reverse had some comparable features to Bathurst.

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Yea, that'd work, but I prefer Laguna cos it has some of my favourite sections of my favourite tracks from over here (I know it wasn't set out like that but it works): we have the double Apex hair pin from Phillip island, those 2 right handers kind of remind me of adelaide, the run up the hill is like Bathurst/sandown, corkscrew is obviously big dipper from Bathurst, the down hill sweeper into the right hander is kinda like the old pokekheo circuit (if that's how it's spelt) and the last corner reminds me of the last hairpin of the Adelaide street circuit
Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
I've hosted some V8s in the public race lobbies. My friends got the hang of the untuned Holdens and Falcons right off, but any randoms that wandered into our playground tended to get frustrated and leave within a few laps.
Whodathunk that these cars would be so noob unfriendly?

Pukehoe (still, I don't know if that's spelt right)? The Kiwi track?

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
So... let me see here: How about either Porsche GT3 Cup or V8 Supercars taking over the Friday timeslot where Clio Cup was?

Yes that's the one, well the old onenickyf1 wrote:Pukehoe (still, I don't know if that's spelt right)? The Kiwi track?
And that's in the process of possibly (big emphasis on possibly) being made, just waiting for someone to get back to me with answer cos I have everything readyFlyin Mikey J wrote:So... let me see here: How about either Porsche GT3 Cup or V8 Supercars taking over the Friday timeslot where Clio Cup was?
And I was also thinking of a Porsche 550 Spyder cup or something

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
More of a one-off idea than an outright series, but I'd love to do something like this...
http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/
http://jalopnik.com/24-hours-of-lemons/
Now how to adapt it to Forza is another story. 100 PI? 5,000 Cr before certain allowed upgrades with adjusted PI? Track would have to be slow enough to, as the real Lemons race tracks are capped at 80 MPH.

Re: Suggestions for a new mini-series
Depending on the success of the Porsche GT3 Cup as part of TORA's involvement in National Motorsport Week. Would anyone be interesting in setting up a mini-series or even championship dedicated to racing these glorious race cars.
Same setup as being used in the National Motorsport Week event. With a Pro & Am division. 2 x 30 minute races. NO mandatory pitstops. Calendar featuring a range of circuits. Must be stock upgrades. Tuning allowed. I would like to see a different qualifying setup though. Perhaps a 15 minute timed session?
Obviously this is based on how well the upcoming event goes. As that could act as a 'test day' for this.
