Re: Project CARS.
Exactly, I'm pleased that a console sim racing game has sold enough copies to warrant a crowd-funding opportunity for a sequel. Compare that to say Race Pro, which sold less than 60,000 copies and made a thumping loss and SimBin never released another console game.
I do think they should have worded the announcement better though - that this is an opportunity to invest in the next game, which needs funding to get it started. People seem to have got the wrong end of the stick and think "they've made tons of money and abandoned development of PCARS1 and now they're asking for more money", which isn't the case at all!

Re: Project CARS.
I'm really interested how they will do it off-road.
But I guess we'll see in a year and half where this goes.
For sure they won't get my money from the start. Not with the fiasco they made of the launch of 1.

Re: Project CARS.
Its all great announcing Project Car 2 but they should fix Project Cars 1 before thinking about making another game.

Re: Project CARS.
To be fair, I think the timing of this announcement is off. The racing community has been venting severely about the lack of multiplayer functionality, so to go on ahead and announce an entirely NEW game is only going to add gasoline to the fire, even if they are just saying, we are getting funding together. They've also made some extremely bold claims and I think that in itself isn't so good. I believe they (at SMS) had good intentions but to many of us it looks like PCars is no longer the focus, just after its successful debut.
On the other hand, go back and listen to Dan Greenawalt interviewing at E3. He openly said that multiple Forza projects were going at once. Forza 6 was already budding before FM5 was released. Forza Horizon 2 was already in the pipeline. Look at any studio, most of them do not work on a single project at a time. T10 has a far greater budget than SMS, but work on different projects can be done with the proper staff.
I seriously have wondered how (if?) QC was performed for XBL multiplayer because of all the problems we have seen, but nonetheless, things will improve in time. They always do.

Re: Project CARS.
Better not criticize on the PCars forums or else you'll get a witch hunt after you and get "Ian Bell'd". Bad timing, hopefully more fixes for this game coming but I don't really know if this could work. They're gonna have to do some seriously good stuff to beat DiRT Rally when that is fully released because at the moment, that's looking amazing.
Also, I think the fact that they're doing crowdfunding again is really poor sport from them. They've sold 1,000,000+ copies, which means at least around $40m. Also, this game was crowdfunded so they've made a very big profit. To go and do it again just screams to me that they're pretty much mooching off people again. Fair enough if they wanted to let it be Early Access Alpha, but this just shows me that SMS are just being a pretty bad company in that sense.
I like Project CARS, I think it's got potential and I really like what TORA is doing with it, but I just cannot stand Ian Bell from seeing his activities online and some of the moronic stuff he does on forums a long time ago. He's made himself a terrible image in other communities, mainly places like the iR , rFactor, etc. forums

Re: Project CARS.
-1000.
Completely failing to grasp how the video game industry works. 1 million copies doesn't equal $40m of profit, why on earth would you believe that?
Once the retailer, distributor, platform holder, publisher and marketing have taken their cut, the developer is lucky to get $5 per copy.
From that, the 20,000 investors have to be paid back their investement, along with the wages for the employees still working on the game.
Read up and learn how this industry works and you'll understand why 1 million+ copies is needed just for many games to break even. Developers arent rolling around in piles of cash taking their customers for a ride as some of you seem to think, if they were why would so many (successful) companies go bust.
Anyway some informed journalism for you to read:

Re: Project CARS.
Oh yeah, I know that they're profit isn't $40m because that's completely far fetched. I'm just saying that is probably how much they've made before and after paying, etc. I do business and economics in school, I hope you don't think I'm that much of a moron lol
EDIT: Forgot to finish this off, but they clearly have made a decent profit or else they wouldn't be announcing something like this so soon.

Re: Project CARS.
Not at all mate, the revenue from the game would be $40m but once all the other parties (retailer, distributor, publisherz platform holder) take their cut the developer is left with a relatively small amount, and even that revenue that has to paid out to creditors (i.e. investors , bank loans etc), so the remaining 'profit' is really quite a small amount - hence why they are asking for new investment to get the second game started
Re: Project CARS.
Cheers , anyway, I would like to see this being good. But my main wish would be for them to iron everything out, which I do think they will. I saw on VirtualR that they're leaving 30% of their team to keep working on pCARS 1, so hopefully we might see some kind of livery editor, solid multiplayer, etc. soon
Re: Project CARS.
Ian Bell said 40 staff will continue to work on PCARS1 (I think they have around 60 full time staff), while a small team starts the groundwork on PCARS2 - remember vehicle artists, designers, track developers, sound engineers etc really aren't much use in 'fixing bugs', that's the job of a programmer/coder. So while the coders continue fixes and updates on PCARS1, the creative employees can continue working on PCARS1 DLC and preliminary work on PCARS2. So its more about utilising the staff they have rather laying them off or them sitting around doing nothing. As PCARS1 becomes more 'complete' more staff will naturally transfer over to PCARS2 to ramp up development on that game. None of this is unusual, its exactly how it works on COD, Forza etc, but as they're internally financed we don't hear about it years in advance, whereas Project CARS is crowd sourced financed so obviously we have to know about it well in advance otherwise it would never get funded!
Re: Project CARS.
Fallout 4 lets you transfer mods from the PC to the Xbox one so could Project do this with paints as it would solve the paint and car problems. Also you got to remember project 1 still have tracks and cars DLC to come.

Re: Project CARS.
I ask on the Project cars forum
"When will the Xbox One version of Project Cars get a paint shop/or any kind of painting system ? "
And Alan ( WMD Member )said
"It won't. Not planned for pCARS1. "
So this is great news no painting system what so ever

Only way to paint cars is on a PC.
But they will release car livery packs for the One and PS4, made by people for the PC.

Re: Project CARS.
They could at least let us import designs we make ourselves on a PC. The most basic thing they could do is allow the number to reflect the number we choose; doesn't make any sense to select a number and then it has no significance. SMS didn't spend much time running the program on consoles, that's apparent.Freheliaz wrote:Only way to paint cars is on a PC.

Re: Project CARS.
Question.
On the PC version it keeps making re-do all my button configurations each time I go on the game (yes I click save)
Also the same with tunes.
Is anyone else having that issue?
Next question.
I use a G25 wheel and have a small issue with the force feedback anyway to make it feel tighter? I say this because from the 10-2 position its really lose then it becomes responsive after that. Any help?

Re: Project CARS.
Have to agree with you...... Ilke having more race cars and less street cars but still very disappointed with the overall product. I went back to Forza 4 and still enjoy it just wish the graphics were up to date. For FORZA 6 all they really needed to do was update 4 to today's standards and add more race cars. Could care less about VISTA what a waste could've made paint program even better instead. The British 1st wrote:Am I the only one thinking that project cars is a disappointment but is still a good game ?

Project cars was scene to be this great racing game.. everything we could ever of wanted in a racing game... all in one.. and this is what we get ? Also PCARS has a lot of problems
. Tire wear don't seem to be working.
. Fuel making very little different.
. lag out problems
. very bad stock control scheme
. cars locking
. cannot speak in game
. Game will delete your profile.
. no paint shop.
. some time you can join a game but not go out on track or make a set up.
. game deleting your car setup.
. pit stop bugs
The way it looking like... if Forza 6 can have very little bug and problems when it comes out and PCARS have not fix the bugs and problems that they got...then I can not see TORA or anyone staying on PCARS when Forza 6 is more stable.. but PCARS still have some more DLC and 2 months to fix there problems before Forza 6 comes out. Also im with you 100% that Forza 4 is better than PCARS the only thing that I would change about Forza 4 is letting us change the car steering sensitivity as I found it to be very tweedy a lot of the times.
