It may seem more work, but would it not be worth while picking 3 tracks off the list. 1 grip, 1 Power and 1 Allround track? That way you will get a better spread of times and be interesting to see if the fastest 3 round Hock are totally different to let's say, Maple Valley?
Just while its fresh an people are keen. 12 extra laps isn't going to hurt anyone

Definitely Cowboy/Rusty, data is needed from more tracks too. The main reason for Hockenheim National in phase 1 was is it's the track on the calendar the is most balanced in terms of power/grip and FWD/RWD balance.
Silverstone Int, Sedona Club and Motegi favour power and acceleration
Nurb Short and Infineon IRL favour handling
Maple Valley favours RWD cars
Suzuka is a good all rounder, but is a very long track to use for testing purposes in these cars
Whereas Hock National has a good balance of straights, tight corners, faster corners, cambers, direction changes (which affects FWD/RWD differently), so overall it's a good test track for base comparison.

It's not 12 extra laps mate, it's 396 extra laps!
The reasons for picking Hock Nat are
1/ It's the first round
2/ It's a balanced circuit, testing several aspects of the car's abilities
3/ I want a FULL SET of times - i.e. all cars on the list, tested on the same circuit, tested in the same way (6 laps, no ABS, no TCS, no STM etc) so it's a fair comparison.
There are 33 cars on the list, that's 198 laps just at HN alone, which is a huge time commitment when you factor in building the cars, and recording the times (using the form on page 1 of this thread - hint hint).
I don't want to urge people to do any more than that, but that is the "required" part of the testing if you like. As I said in the original post, I fully expect that people will run times elsewhere and that's fine, but I don't want you getting hung up on testing at Laguna Seca or wherever, and neglecting doing the times at Hock that will give us the pool of data that you need for an accurate and fair comparison.

I'm out tonight/tomorrow but will probably be on later in the night. Hopefully will join you for Friday's session.
It would be good to run as if a race, but with collisions off so we can see where the different cars are strong (e.g. "Sentragate" from season 6).

If someone new to the group has an opinion they should be able to share it. That is what they are here for and why outside people are brought in. Just because you've done something for the past 6 years doesn't mean it cannot evolve and improve if it needs to. If it couldn't we'd all be running around with clubs grunting our asses off.
Not trying to preach to you Franchitti.

Jamie mate, I'm slower than all these other guys but from testing did find the same results as Magic.

and all i was saying is how long we've ran with the assists and that we agreed on doing something? I never tryed to stop anything new or being improved
The fact is this championship has been better than it ever has been thanks to the likes of CQR, VVV, BG F4H etc.

As Jamie said, no engine swaps allowed, but of all the ones I've seen so far, they would put the car outside the build regs anyway. Could you please make a note of the ones that COULD potentially be swapped and remain in the regs, so that we can look out for exploits.
Re: TCC Season 7 (Q1 2013) Testing - Phase 2 Open - *** Car List & Testing Instructions on Page 1 ***
any 1 have any tips for basic FWD & RWD set up should apply to base builds?
Re: TCC Season 7 (Q1 2013) Testing - Phase 2 Open - *** Car List & Testing Instructions on Page 1 ***
A good starting point would be:
For FWD
- lower front tyre pressures than rear (e.g. 28.5 front / 30.0 rear)
- high accel on the diff
- fairly soft front roll bar, stiff rear roll bar (e.g. 15/35)
For RWD
- level tyre pressures or slightly lower at the rear (e.g. 30.0/29.5)
- decel higher than the accel on the diff
- stiffer front roll bar than rear roll bar (e.g. 20/15)

Antiroll front 1. Rear 40 on FWD.
Make sure front springs rebound and dampening are softer than rear ( this is also how my MK2 is set up
RWD i run ARBs at 40 and 1 with lowish caster.
Springs same front and rear and same for bump and rebound.
Run FWD diffs 70-100% acc and rear 8-15% acc

Seems a bit backwards but as I say, its how my racers set up and 90% of the grid all do the same
My tuning tips on here dont work for everyone, i know that but its worth a shot

I run my FWD's like Magic but my RWD's are a lot different

SEAT Leon 2010
Kia Cee'D
Subaru Impreza '08
Peugeot RCZ
Volvo C30
Nissan Sentra
These are the ones that I believe can have an engine swap and still remain inside the regs.
