It's really good yes. Tried it with F1 2011 for the first time and it's really good indeed! The force needed in long corners its mind blowing. I did a 40lap test at Silverstone (2x20 lap stints) and my arms were killing afterwards lol.

I'm still getting the rig into a position I'm completely comfortable with but it'd getting there. I need lots more time to get back up to speed but I'm getting there.

It's totally worth it Smile

...aaaand that's my wheel being sent back as a defective product.

Seems like it doesn't like to be used for endurance races, otherwise it goes on fire.

Getting a new replacement though, no questions asked. Hopefully this next one is ok...

New wheel shipped today, and I have to send my defective one back after I get the new one. Going by the email I seem to be expected to pay postage, with no word of reimbursment. I shipped a 1kg package to the US yesterday and it cost me £25, I don't even want to imagine what a 10kg box will cost.

I am expecting to be fully reimbursed if I do. I would have preferred if they had pre-paid it though. If they refuse to reimburse then I aint sending it back.

I have had a wheel for a bit now and am still looking for a good stand for it. I have kind of been unsure of having a stand with the support situated between your legs. However, looking at the pics in this thread, that seems to be what a few of you have. So, ...

What is it like having a wheel stand with the support between your legs? Does it get in the way at all? Are there any issues with it? Is it solid and stable?

I'm not really sure about the wheel stands, you would need to ask Matt. GT Omega Racing (who sponsor our GT series Wink) have released a wheel stand that doesn't have a metal bar in between your legs. It annoys me now that I have a clutch on the Playseat, so not having it would be excellent.

I use a creaky wooden table. Does the job with the MS wheel.

I really want the Elite CSR, but I'm afraid of the massive difference (and cost Razz ) it would make to my driving. Sure it's more real, but I remember the jump from the Logitech Pro on GT4 to the MS wheel when I got my Xbox and the latter just felt so weak in comparison. And since the CSR is better than the Logitech, I'm assuming the leap back is going to be huge.

The main reason I want the CSR is the clutch pedal and shifter stick... Plus the other cool stuff of course Razz The thing that also worries me a bit is the huge amount of settings, and the strange bugs with FM4 at the moment... Well, I'll get over it.

Post by Richy59 Thu 26 Jan 2012 - 17:10

The CSR Elite has made me a lot quicker than I have been on Forza 4, where as with the MS Wheel I became a lot slower.

I'm not convinced by the quality of the Fanatec products yet though. The first Elite I had was incredibly strong and felt brillaint to use, but I reported a smell of buring and sent them a video of something possibly grinding inside the wheel. They instantly sent me out a new one but I continued to use mine and I really believe it was just the wheel 'wearing in' if you could call it that.

Set up the new wheel last night and did some TCC testing. The new wheel with the same software feels a lot looser and lighter than the previous one, and I even tried my SLS that I drove all of Sunday night and it just didn't have the same feel.

Maybe this one needs to 'wear in' as well.

The Rennsport Stand I have is really good. While it's not up there with a full on seat and frame set up it's really well put together and folds down so I can store it under the breakfast bar.
It can tak a litttle time to get it to the perfect position but it is well worth it.
I'm still getting up to speed and I'm hopefull that like Richy I'll be up to speed and maybe even quicker very soon.

Have they stopped selling the basic Fanatec CSR wheel and pedals? I can find them in the Website but as soon as you go to the Web shop they aren't listed. Only the Elite versions.

Whats in the XL?

I would be really interested to feel the difference between the CSR and the Elite to see if it was worth the money. Duncan, I think you should send me yours Wink

EDIT

Just had a look, they give you the CSR Wheel, Shifter set and the CSR Elite pedals. Very worth it, those pedals are a requirement.

DO NOT BUY A MADCATZ Wireless FFB Xbox wheel!!

I've used it for one month and its already eaten itself for within!! It's now unusable.

Now, with the xbox wheels, they paid for the return and furnished a brand new one free of charge under warranty.

Madcatz however, ask you to pay the postage for returning a massive heavy box with the wheel and pedals in it!!!

WTF!! I already forked out toooo much money and its broken in an unbelievably short time. Now i have to pay to get it back, for another to be sent out, that will break in a month too!!! This could get very expensive....If you have one already and there is an issue. Ask for the refund procedure and feel free to use my email below as a template if needs be:

Hi Support,

I don't see any details for the payment of shipping the faulty wheel back to you, so I have just spoken to Madcatz support who have informed me that I have to pay for postage every time I send the wheel back to you!! Not great customer service I have to say. I already paid for the wheel, it is broken within a month of using it, and now I'm paying to send it back for a replacement that will definitely break in the same way (unless the wheel is different internally and has been redesigned and changed already!!), which will again cost me more money to replace via postage!!

So, that being the case, I want to only have to send a broken wheel back once. The only way I see to do this is to request a full refund. Please reply to this email stating how I receive a full refund. I did request this information in my first support request (see below for the email thread) but it has not been furnished as of yet.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,
Matt
